Long overdue. Creating light with heat is so prehistoric. Hell, even CFLs are going obsolete. Got my first LED reading lamp, love it.

On a related note, I've long used a 40 watt incandescent bulb to heat my fermentation cabinet. It's a 2' x 2' x 3' box, lined with 2 inches of insulation. A single 40W bulb, run off a thermostat, can keep it at any temperature from ambient to higher than I need.
It works so well because it is inefficient. What do I do when that bulb burns out?

Buy "rough service" 50w bulbs.

I used to buy another bulb every other year (per fixture). Now I buy bulbs that cost 10 dollars (2 pack) and from my experience I replace them nearly as often as the incandescent. Just facts, I wish they didn't go out!
