Nice bunch of folks over there. Very helpful to skiers learning the ropes.

WTF? When did it take the chop?
That's too bad. I never participated in the forums. I always thought it was a good source for info.
In the mean time, check out Lou Dawson's site, wildsnow.com

Yeah, they were kinda your typical L-Aliens sowing the seeds of IchMoi in Mammoth(like that hasn't been going on for eons!!). Their 'tudes took it down. I quit going there a couple years ago.
Thanks for the links.
Got my first snow flakes of the year on my face on my morning commute this AM..!! loving it

Yes, TGR, aka Teton Gravity Research. Warning, it can be just as insufferable as TTips was.

http://www.turns-all-year.com/ has been around since 2001 and is still going pretty strong, but it is somewhat Northwest centered. There is a Front Range and a Mt. Lassen report in October, so sometimes people post up from elsewhere too. It's a little different vibe than TGR anyways, a little "mellower". ;-)

Talk about a set up, TGR can range from very informative to very brutal.
I certainly agree. Ttips was a kumbaya fest compared with TGR. The latter fits in the young boy's club (same as old boy's club, with even less maturity :-)

There's plenty of knowledgeable and experienced backcountry skiers right here on ST so post up questions, certainly more mountain related than the latest political BS that seems to dominant at times.
Mountaineering is about moving over mountainous terrain in all seasons which includes dirt, gravel, sand, rock, ice and SNOW!!!!!!!!!

TGR is an awesome resource if you're looking for backcountry beta. If you don't have a thick skin, just lurk. Or go in with you're arms swinging. If you've got talent on either side of a camera you'll be fine. Otherwise, bring naked pics of any girl and say it's your sister.

Telemark.. universal sign for skiing on your face. Never met a tele skier who was better on Tele's. It's is akin to rock climbing in Teva's.. sure some people can do it really well.
