Hello, gretings to all! Excuse me for the scipture!
the GREAT JOHN MALLON
WATERMAN, whose undertaking is in SOLO PERFORMANCE EIA
NEW SPUR SUD_EST MONTE HUNTER (4442m. in Alaska)
I DESPITE my many books on Mountaineering NOT READING
KNEW, I Learned by reading the fine book by KRAUKAUER.
Into The Wild (Into the Wild) Kraukauer is a climber and a
writer! Then we come to us, the WATERMAN with this climb
1978 (SECOND many great climbers including the GREAT JEFF
LOWE (one of the greatest of all time, (just remember its way on a
Eiger (15 METANOIA Bivacchi Via Nuova in Solitary Winter
1991 NEVER REPEATED! Then he opened his WATERMAN NEW route on
SPORN the Southeast SOLO.
LOWE second, and many other great climbers it is the MORE 'BIG ADVENTURE
SOLITARY in MOUNTAINEERING (ALPINE) of ALL TIME!! Nobody ever,
Before or since has done something similar, some are CLOSER
es. Tomas HUMAR, Yashushi YAMANOY, Masathoshi Kuriaki with VERY BIG
SOLITARY but WINTER AS 'NO!
Then. Waterman with equipment comparable to NOT WITHOUT OUR days
NO CONTACT with the outside world made a MASTERPIECE without EQUAL!
Since BOOK Into the Wild of KRAUKAUER.
AFTER 81 DAYS OF DANGEROUS and exhausting climbing Waterman reached
The peak of Mount HUNTER (thinks are already 81 BIVOUACS only seems to CLIMB
AMAZING) and the TIP took another 64 DAYS (64 BIVOUACS) for BACK
to the BASE (145 DAYS 145 BIVOUACS in all the time spent on Mount HUNTER
SOLITARY MOUNTAINEER in this INCREDIBLE!
So, do you think THIS VIA had been attempted several times by strong teams ALPINISTS
BUT all were back BACK! Speaking of his business in the journal CLIMBING
WATERMAN described his climbing partners: death, wind, snow!!
I'll get an excerpt from the UP HIS STORY:
Frames Steam Vents as MERINGUES overhung miles of DEEP VACUUM.
VERTICAL ICE, crumbly like a bucket of ice cubes means loose
and then refrozen to CRESTE so steep, sharp as
force me to continue to Astride At times, PAIN and LONELINESS
took over, and could not help but burst into tears!!
In a little while I weep! LITERALLY ARE AMAZED (and it's amazing
who have never read anything MASTERPIECE ON A SIMILAR (NOT SE
just talk about it anywhere) of this CLIMB (despite
the only BOOKS ON THE SOLITARY) And I fully agree with
the GREAT JEFF LOWE AND OTHER BELIEVE in this solo ascent
the most HUGE, HUGE, GREAT Climbing SOLITARY of ALL TIME
and THIS THERE ARE NO DOUBT! The WATERMAN made A MASTERPIECE
that WILL 'in THOUSANDS OF YEARS TO COME (How HIM NO!!!!)
I ask please if some kind friend has climbed this route, and since in Italy I have not found the description of the way of Waterman, if you can give me a description route.
Do you think that in Europe and in Italy (I own over 500 books of mountaineering and climbing hundreds of magazines +) Waterman's great you do not know anything
Thank you very much for your help!
Greetings to All.

Johnney Waterman Apreciation Thread
http://www.supertopo.com/climbing/thread.php?topic_id=802141
Also I suggest reading "breaking point" by Glenn Randall. It's about Waterman and about the second ascent of the SE Spur by Athens, Metcalf and Randall. I think there has been a third ascent also but I'm not sure.
Its hard to decide what to think about Johnney's solo. I have never heard of anything in climbing like it. Legendary is certainly an apt term for it.

Thank you very much for the explanation and Climbski2 the site
@ @ @ @ @ Reetoch and Randisi.
Sorry, your answer is incomprehensible if you want to tell me something, explain yourself well, I do not know the English (and sorry) so please, do not make jokes, but explain to me of my mistakes, which can correct me:
I do not participate in the forum to make me laugh 2 (not in my lifestyle),
but I participate and ask things that interest me very much (and if I know I have to thank this forum CHRIS MACNAMARA) So, I would like to have serious answers, if not, do not answer! With friendship.
A warm greeting to all from

Gigi,
the internet is a wonderful thing that allows people from far away to interact with each other, and I welcome the diversity.
But it is hard to tell where you are going with this.
Perhaps you can seek out language help.

I managed to translate the offense you gave me "" "MORON" ""
Well, I do not deserve a reply, but I lower to your level!!
I'm saying that here in Italy people like YOU say only:
Hey buddy, you're worth a little money!!
Learn Education, which is better!

So, I would like to have serious answers, if not, do not answer!
Uh oh! You will have a hard time here if you expect everyone to be serious. This place is part playground, part repository of incredible climbing history and legends. You have to relax and enjoy it all. Mostly it's just fun if you don't take it too seriously. If you actually let yourself get upset you will get attacked mercilessly.. hehe
Some of the trolls here are also some of the real world climbing legends.
As a little bonus. It can be fun for gumbies like me to poke a stick at a legend once in a while.
and you misunderstood randisi.. was calling reeotch a moron.. not you.

Watermann2:
It will help for you to know this site is peopled by a herd of cats that, very occasionally, do or say something extremely good and interesting. The rest of the time.............
I knew John and found him to be an extremely serious youngster who, as the record shows, was willing to take on anything. Anything. Every person carries within themselves something unique and valuable, as did John. We lose that when one dies. Perhaps that loss is enough cause for each of us to take reasonable care in our own lives.
Many years ago I had the chance to spend a couple of weeks in Kortina d'Ampezzo. I found the WWI Memorial fascinating and the people uniformly and wonderfully gracious. The trip to your country was a great experience.

Gigi, I'm not sure why a few folks can't understand your English. It's not bad at all.
Your passion for climbing comes through.
The old thread about Waterman (in the link in the post above) gives information that may be of interest to you.

A big thank you to Jstan and Philp for the great kindness!
I know that my English is horrible, but I am amazed by the great EXPLOIT that WATERMAN made on Mount Hunter, and think that in Europe and Italy do not know anything about this legendary climber, never read anything, I found out what what INTO tHE WILD, and what I read about him and his workouts I was stunned! And I just wanted to ask if he could give me a few friends for a description of the route to Mount Waterman Hunter (route description) because in Italy I can not find any books on the description of the way!
Anyway, thank you very much of your kind answers!
Many greetings from a great admirer of the legendary Waterman!

Hello mt10910 :
No no, I will not repeat the path of the Great Waterman, I would just, please, know the description of this legendary ascent of Mount Hunter In Italy we say "" "" THE Report of the Way "" "" that the WATERMAN took 88 days to the only climb (if I remember correctly) In Italy I find no description of the climb.
Route Description.
Thank you very much. Kind regards and best wishes

Waterman did the first ascent of the south ridge in 1973 with Dean Rau, Dave Carman, and Don Black, prior to his 1978 solo of the Southeast Spur.
Both routes converge and then follow this ridge:
In addition to having traversed this ridge on the 1973 south ridge ascent, on the solo ascent Johnny reportedly made something like 12 carries across this section (and all the others) due to the huge amount of gear he had brought with him.
One trip across the happy cowboys was enough for this lad, thank you!!!!

By the way Watermann2 (Gigi), if you want to read a really fascinating bio and background on Johnny's life, find a copy of "In the Shadow of Denali" by Jonathan Waterman (ironic name but no relation) and locate the short story "Lone Wolf: The Other John Waterman". One of the seminal pieces of Alaskan mountaineering literature.

Thank you very much friendly Markwestman, I know the book of my divine and legendary Waterman, and I do not know what I would give to read it, the problem is that I know very little English, just to say nothing (I know the French well) and I've already looked at the book the great JOHNNY, but it is written only in English!
And I'm so sorry they did not know English, because I could read interesting things (I own over 500 books of mountaineering and climbing)
Anyway Thank you so much for Your answer!
Best regards from Gigi.
