I met Steve and his Wife Fran this summer in the Winds and he graciously agreed to do a slide show in the hills this spring. We finally have the date set and it will be at Crow Peak Brewery in Spearfish, SD at 6:30 pm on Wednesday March 27th with the slide show starting at around 7pm when the sun goes down. He and his wife are also participating in a couple of other events for the 2nd Annual Black Hills State University Outdoor Week schedule listed below. If any of you are in the area we would love to have you stop in. Tickets will be $10 at the door with all procedes going toward next years event and the Black Hills Climbers Coalition. I just wanted to let the ST crowd know and say a big thank you to Steve and Fran. Mike

Here are some of the events that are planned that may be of interest to the ST crowd or regional climbers.

Monday March 25, 2013:
3:30-5pm Access Fund Adopt a Crag at Skeletal Remains/Community Cave. Come help BHSU CRUX and the Access Fund clean up the closest climbing area to campus. Climb on your own with the local community afterward. Door prizes to be awarded.
Tuesday March 26, 2013:

She has been involved in the Voyager mission (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune), Galileo (Jupiter), Deep Space 1 (Comet Borrelly), the New Horizons mission to Pluto and the Juno mission to Jupiter’s polar regions. Having had the pleasure of a Crusher show, I encourage everyone within driving range of this South Dakota event to make the effort to attend.

It'll be worth it.

An hour from Devil's Tower. The South Face routes can be pretty nice this time of year. Of course it could be snowing.

Sounds great Jim. Maybe wait another couple of years when you are in your seventies so I can keep up.

Once again a big thanks to Steve and Fran for doing this. Fran is doing a show for local college and high school students on her work with planatary explorers.

Met Fran in 1978 at MIT. Crusher about 1985 in Boulder.
Wonderful people!

I remember looking at the two of them methodically aiding up some line on Devil's Tower while McQuade and I stumbled up El Matador ...

Would love to be there...

Crushing in the desert!

Yeah!

A4 pitch, thin nailing, second ascent of a route on one of the last great cliffs of the Fisher Towers.

In Torrington, Wy, ambling sort of northward toward Spearfish.

Hey Crusher!

Did you repeat Hot parad'ice? Congratulations! Nice and interesting!
Come on, I'd love you to upload a trip report with your impressions of the route. You can bring a lot of interesting explanations and help to change some points of view...
Be well!

Crusher, your offer it's very kind but it's very hard for me to get to Spearfish from Barcelona on time!
We can do it another way. If you come to Barcelona, you're invited to tones of beers to hear your story!
Meanwhile, I'll be waiting from the other part of the ocean to read about your adventure!
Congratulation again for the SA!
