I've been wanting a mtb for a while and finally popped for a 29er. Having a ton of fun on it. Anyone else on the big wheels?

Nice ride Bruce. I have been riding a Gary Fischer Superfly 29er for the last few years. I am the worlds slowest rider and can,t do the rad stuff but have a blast all the same. If you are ever in Indiana check out our awesome trails. We have some nice world class singletrack. Be safe the damn things will bite you now and then - sort of like climbing :0)

I'm sold on the big wheels.
Have a Turner Sultan fully suspended and a VooDoo Aizan fully rigid.

I noticed that the MTB riders in the Olympics were exclusively on 29ers.

I'd like to try a 29er on the type of steep technical slickrock riding we do around here. I don't want to sacrifice any climbing power.

Yes, picked up a Specialized Carve(pro) three months ago. It's a hardtail(which I prefer over fs). Loving' it so far

if elite cross country racers are using them, the bike won't be the limiting factor on climbs (of course their bikes might be a little lighter than most).

Coming off a road bike for the last few years my off road skills are a little rusty. The downhills are way more gripping than being on the sharp end. Climbing's pretty slow - until you whip, on the bike it's fast until you crash.
I've forgotten how nice it is to ride a bike without cars flying by though.

It does seem like the 26" wheel is on it's way out.

The 29's ,with their taller wheels , roll over stuff easier and roll better thru the soft stuff...But on the technical uphills and downills , the 26's are more nimble...Personally i don't enjoy the technical stuff that much...After a long work-week i just want to get out and roll fast..Wrestling the bike thru rocky technical stuff can be so tedious and frustrating...I guess the bottom line , like Tom Ritchey once said is it's not about the technical gear but just getting out and riding....

29ers are lame, strictly for frat boys with collars popping

mountain goats don't ride on 29ers. Frat boys do.

Riding a 26 is like riding a shetland pony with a droopy collared shirt...A 29er is like riding a polo horse and a stiff collared shirt...Smithers pass the starch please...

Well, aren't we all regal & sh#t?
There are brothers(sistas, too) gettin' after it on our fair trails. Some of them even single speed. ((gasp)) 29'ers are just another way. They're yer cousins, ya gotta love 'em.

I ride a 26 full suspension bike for fun and race a 29er scott scale pro. The 29er weights just under 22 pounds running 2 x 10. It is really fast but it takes a lot out of the body since it is so stiff. After about 50 miles I start thinking the 26er would be nice.

I sat on the fence about 26 v 29ers for years and but really they are different bikes for different courses. They each have their pros and cons and I ride them depending on the ride and experience I'm looking for.

29er's are faster on technical downhills, uphills, singletrack Etc., Etc., ask the pros they know.

No idea whether these guys are riding 26 or 29 or 57, but they sure can fly.
