This is dedicated to those old dudes who crank like fiends. My money's on Jo Montchausse. He's literally written the book on Fontainbleau bouldering, and, at 65 plus, he'll climb you into the ground. Post up.
Oh yeah, Jo's also a husband, father of two, and a professor of economics in 'bleau. Doesn't seem to be slowing down either.

Russ - Stim's 86 for what it's worth. And yes, he still cranks. I climbed with him over Thanksgiving out in JT, he can still float up 10a face. And yep, still got the hair!
Alex Bertulis also cranks hard for mid 70's. Here he is with Stim. He's still working good hair too. Both guys are total class acts.

Yep, I climbed with Woody today and at 60 something, he might be one of the youngsters here, but he rocks. He returns day after day with the best attitude and the most "interesting" gear placements. He can be my ropegun anyday, or am I his belay slave? Oh well...

No pictures to post, but Herb Laeger is still climbing 5.12 at 61 and has all his hair. I entirely credit his sweet wife though. Without her he would have been murdered by everyone of his climbing partners for the last 30 years, but no one wanted to hurt Eve.

as a faithful sub-dude, I have to nominate this aging monkey. Even his "tude" is on a resurgence (shiver). But right now it looks like his tort-mate, Mort, is keeping him in his shell and not wanting to post up. So of course his sub-men have to step up.

Allen Steck still cranks--in his late seventies, I think. I know he repeated the Steck-Salathe a few years ago, when he was about 70. Pretty stout!

Al Steck is 80 and still climbing, but not leading. A couple of years ago (2002-03?) he and his son Lee zoomed up Chrimson Chrysalis in under six hours. And we did Open Book at Tahquitz a few months later.

Lee Sheftel climbing 14a at 59 y.o. sounds like it almost qualifies as 13d at 60. I've known old construction workers with unbelieveable arm strength at 60 after using tin snips on 10-12 gauge sheet metal for 30 years. Barring degenerative diseases . . .

Looks like Mo is climbing hard again, but I don't think he is old enough to qualify for this thread. Is he even 50 yet?

ShortTimer, I do believe that Mo's tipping the scales of time at 52. So I guess the next question is what would be the age qualification a person needed in order to be considered an "Old Guy"? For my money, once AARP starts sending you entry applications, you qualify.

Well, at 54 I wouldn't nominate myself into a thread that is talking about 60-80 year olds. However, some of my friends call me old so maybe it is a personnal choice. Just ask Mo if he *thinks* he is old? HA!
