Chris Mac and a bunch of other cool people with a thirst for big air ski/BASE jumped Lover's Leap yesterday. Quite the show!

Nice photos. Did you rap off and hang somewhere to shoot those?
The Leap feels very steep, but it doesn't look vertical to me. Don't you have to have a ton of speed to clear far enough out to pop your chute? Not that I have BASE jumped or ever will. Hang gliding was crazy enough for me, and I wont go back to flying.

No rapping. We shot from on top of wall but farther downhill towards the East Wall. There were a couple other photographers up there who are full-time pros. Jerry Dodrill who posts on this forum was there. I'm sure he has much better shots. Perhaps he'll share. I was just there to have fun as a wide eyed spectator.
Look closely and you'll see the launch ramp.

If I am looking at the picture correctly, I can see the ramp down to the edge--nice and long with a slight curve. So who figures out before the first jump if there is enough speed to get out far enough?

did they stick the landing?! ha - looks like fun.
the real sickness (tm) is that dudes are hucking 200+ footers (without a chute BTW) now on a regular basis: below is near snowbird, went down this winter.
this was at kirkwood: (spot the dude dropping below the skier in red).
