home field advantage accrues due to the happy circumstance that the sun sets into the LA haze, suitably distanced at a range of 500 miles

YEAH! Those are great sunset photos.

When you post up----do the ST thing and claim your "BEST IN CLASS" 2011 SUNSET PHOTO!

As an "old-fog" I do have to give "faint-praise" to the photos you post.

All I can say is:

-

AWESOME DOOOOODS!!!

Tami gets the (so-far-in-the-thread) award for best sunset photo of a ST Posteur!-------or was that poster???

Photos taken from within one or two metres of each other. No doubt Ed H has a program that can predict the angle or azimuth or whatever it's called.

I pretty much do understand... that ol Anders follows the same tracks around his whole life he does...
probably been near there with him myself...

close to 10 U 490262.20m E 5503802.57m N
49.68667 N,123.135 W

on Dec 9, 2011 the Moon rise (by my calc) was close to 3:45pm local time, at an azimuth of 55.18º
an hour later it was at an azimuth of 65.83º and an altitude of 8.10º

on Dec 1, 2009 the Moon rose around 3:35pm at an azimuth of 47.25º and an hour later it was at 60.55º and an altitude of 7.09º

what's the peak in the background to the left?

Photo of sunset or photo at sunset?

Guess I'll use the loophole.

Picture 2 below is taken out the car window at highway speed - a typical view on the drive home from climbing at Squamish.
