Are there any unwritten rules at Supertopo?

Possible examples:
Older people should be treated more respectfully than younger people.
Climbers who have on-sighted 8a (or maybe 7b?) should be treated more respectfully than climbers who haven't.
Foreign climbers should treat American climbers with more respect than American climbers should treat American or foreign climbers because Supertopo is an American website. Supertopo is the home of American climbers and the forum is their main meal.

Is there anything to these examples?

The question is free. May the answers cling as they want to.

Dr.F.

I would like to know more about the unwritten rules, to make them explicit - not to judge them, just to listen to them.

Tony

I would appreciate it if you in your next post wrote one of them.

I think each person has their own unwritten rules. Maybe there is a fair amount of overlap, but none is 100% followed.

For example, a decent rule is to not kick someone when they are down. But I have seen this happen. Saw a post in which one poster told another they wished they were dead. The recipient was old and infirm and was dead not long after. Poor form.

A rule is to be kind, but seriously, that hasn't always been followed. :/

Even the 'don't spam the site' has not been 100% followed. Remember Dr. Kodos?

Not sure there are any that all abide by.

Thanks! Was it Locker who was the driving force behind that one?

OK. Climbers on ST who have on-sighted 7b deserve a blow job from ST tools.

Thanks Tami.
Then the unwritten rules are in conflict. We add this one: Climbers on ST who have on-sighted 7b do not deserve a blow job from ST tools.

Zip.
Yes, do as to others... ?

Edited Dr.F.: Bush is ok if it covers the vagina. I will add - or the penis - just to avoid a sexist bend to the thread. Or are there an unwritten rule like this one: ST is primarily a male web-site?

Thanks eKat and Locker.
There may be a conflict between those unwritten rules that only CMAC or god can solve.

LEB
Thanks. Do you see any unwritten rules? An example: Is "Take what you get or leave" one of the unwritten rules?

shmules?

Edited: OK. Then, let us say the unwritten rule is: I will do as I will. Or: Do as you will.

A certain amount of decorum, while not a rule, is fine style.

Thanks Dr.F.

Some unwritten rules I can draw from this is:

If a situation between two people is unworkable, then they should try to work out an agreement.

Each part should then keep their side of the agreement. If one or both of them do not, then the one or ones who break the agreement should be punished.

Who should punish them?

Thanks Captain

Unwritten rule added: A certain amount of decorum, while not a rule, is fine style.

Then we're into the ethics of style.

Thanks LEB! A lot of food for thought.
