I have been a faithful and positive poster on ST Forum for over a year. I am not a member of the old yosemite guard, Stonemasters, or political opportunists on this sight. I tend to enjoy all topics on this site whether climbing related or not, and if I tire of the political ranting I post up with something climbing related. I have been climbing for over 30 years, and will continue to do so regardless of what happens on ST Forum. What I find most interesting about ST Forum is the diversity of backgrounds, experience and opinions; especially from "regular" guys like me. Damit! here's to the "regular" guys !!!

two regular guys, on top of the regular route, virtually moments after the pass opened last year. I understand we missed the 'Porter family' by mere weeks.

I vote we kick Werner out of our regular guy club. Maybe the stud club can take him in...

Is this a great sport, or what?

How many "regular guy" golfers get help with their swing from Tiger Woods?

How many "regular guy" football fans have shared beers with Brett Fahvre?

How many slow-pitch softball "regular guys" have played in Yankee Stadium?

But if you spend much time at all climbing, you can't help but cross paths with the movers and shakers of our sport.

Even a regular guy.

Yep, Werner. That's her. She preferred the enema in a can.

And Ouch! that's you back in the day after breaking your ankle on the east ledges descent, right after your speed ascent of El Captain.

Ammon and Chris are no match for the blazing speed you possessed back then.
Ouch!

Yeah, that was a bad one, Werner. Old bear #46 forgot he was belaying me and wandered off to eat mice. I'll admit I was pretty fast. It was said I could run all day in the shade of a tree.

Jaybro, I,m the younger brother of the B.Porter above. When we toped out on the Regular Route last year, two younger guys toped out about half an hour behind us.We "High Fived" and they asked us how old we were. We told them 50 and 52 and they said "God I hope we are still climbing when were that age" First time I ever realized, that I am getting F#$KING Old.. The Younger B.Porter

Well, Jacko, you had us beat at 48 &49. Good climb! None of us are all that old though. and Becky & TM are waiting to pass us at any time.

I took my older brother up that first pitch many years ago and he puked and we had to go down.

Jaybro, My big brother Greased off below the Crux and I caught my first Leader Fall.. Quite exiting for me, but a 15 ft. Head first sideways fall, probably wasnt as thrilling for him.But he lead every pitch on the climb with out a hitch after that. I,m just a follower and a belay slave. Jacko

Here's to the regulars (and irregulars, too). If I left anyone out, to you!
