Through their battles, peace will reign.
May God bless our soldiers. They don't ask for war, they fight it.

Werd, Jamatt.
Nobody loves peace like a soldier. But I do have a lot of respect for our guys in the field, guys who know no peace, except for the peace of coming home. Being with their wife and kids.
Ya gotta love these brave soldiers....Be safe, boys!!!!

how do you feel about gay dudes in the military? are they included in your red white and blue memorial day or are they just stuck with a rainbow flag?
Although not addressed to me, I'll bite the troll hook.
I feel the same about the gay dudes in the military as I feel about the gay chicks in the military. That feeling is respect. God Bless them!

Pate, yo the boy always lookin' for the zing. Wonder why. Anyway.....
I thought much about Memorial Day today while I jogged the hills of my beautiful country town after work this evening.
This is what surfaced.....and what I want to remember and memorialize on this special day.
I want to remember how life begins, so very fragile and
what supports this life..... the strength of community and
the x factor.
We awake each day and many times assume and even take for granted the day we waken to. But ya know it's not a given, it's a gift which at any time can be taken away.
Let's embrace the day no matter how challenging or what it holds, great joys or tough decisions, and love to the max those that are close.
Can we practice putting aside the petty arguments and jealousies that really are next to meaningless. What matters it if the toilet seat is vertical rather than horizontal or the route was not done to yo satisfaction.
And finally the xfactor. We all have something we believe in. And thankfully we can believe because we have people that have dedicated a time in their own life to protect these beliefs.
Many have given their lives, mentally and physically, so we as a whole in this country and through out the world can have a full life.
We remember and set aside this day to honor those that have given to us, so much. Peace spilling over with an abundance of Joy....and Thanks, lynne

Remembering all veterans today made me want to share with you what Super Topo member, Thomas Johnson sent to me. Tom, I hope you don't mind me sharing this here.
Tom used to write for our weekly paper in Chico, The News and Review. This is only a part of his heavily researched piece on remembering fallen Vietnam vets from my hometown and surrounding area. A lot of the stories did not scan clear enough to read.
Not only did Tom do a great service in researching and publishing this, he also served in Vietnam. It was very kind of him to visit us in Chico to talk about this.
Thanks to all vets and remember the fallen and those who have had a hard time getting their life back to where they can see the light again.

It's all the same deal, Callie. Dudes and chix willing to provide for defense of this great nation. Only putting 2 days aside a year seems lame to me, but then I'd get called a war-monger.
What's more, is that our servicemen put their lives at stake not only for our country, but humanity. They fight for the innocent who cannot defend themselves from oppression. Our boys fight for what's right in the world. The good.
I don't think people really understand how much our military has done to further peace and prosperity amongst people. I realize it sounds trite to say that we fight for peace. But look back at history.
We have given more blood in the pursuit of peace than any other current country.
And people call us war-mongers...
