On Saturday May 14 the Idyllwild Climber’s Alliance will be hosting an Adopt-a-Crag/Climber’s Festival in Idyllwild. In the morning volunteers will work on the three main climber’s trails in Idyllwild. The Alliance’s ambassadors will distribute educational materials to climbers as well as an invitation to attend the barbeque and raffle. Additional signage will be placed. The day will wrap up with a barbeque, book signing, and raffle. This event is sponsored by: the Alliance, the Access Fund, and the Southwest Section of the American Alpine Club. We expect further help for the raffle from our friends in the outdoor equipment industry.

Very cool idea. Looking forward to more details...

'Idyllwild Climber's Alliance'? Is there a website or portal for more information about this Alliance?

Tfish,

If he said May 14th, why would he mean March 19th? I'll bring this to the attention of the Allied Climbers of San Diego. I would also recommend contacting them directly yourself. www.alliedclimbers.org

The Idyllwild Climber's Alliance is just starting up. I'll be creating a Facebook page for it. Over the last 2 years we have done 4 Adopt-a-Crag days with the goal each day to improve one climber's trail. With the help of the Forest Service, in he person of Andy Smith, we had good success in improving the trail. However there was a limit, 10-12, of the number of people that could work on a trail at one time. This year we are going to open it up to more climbers and use a whole day making it in addition a celebration of the opening of the climbing season.

If this is as successful as we hope we can also recruit more members of the ICA and enable it to be a force for stewardship of our great area.

If you want to volunteer on May 14 please drop me a line at jlucke@cmc.edu

We are making some progress in getting this day organized, but could always use more help.

Nomad Ventures will be helping and John at Wilderness Outings is looking into a coffee source for us.

The Access Fund has awarded us a small grant to help cover costs!

Looking better all the time.

Stonemaster Press will be represented at the Climber's Festival. You will be able to buy the Stonemaster book but also get it, or one you already own, signed by an Actual Stonemaster.

Look here or at the Idyllwild Climber's Alliance Facebook page for the latest info on the event.

We are fine tuning the schedule so there won't be too much down time.
