Kurt Albert, German climbing pioneer and good friend and mentor of Wolfang Guellich, has been very seriously injured in a climbing accident.

Let's all hope for the best, German news articles I've read say his condition is still very critical.

So sorry to hear that he has been critically injured. Kurt was such a great inspiration to many back in the 80's with all the wonderful stories and great pictures which accompanied them. I will also be praying for his healthy recovery.

Hard to believe that someone who seemed to be so far above the rest of us fell that way.

Best wishes for a full recovery.

Since he was oin a Via Ferrata, it makes you wonder if a piece of the equipment didn't break?

I'm reading that the report of his death is false, and that he is still ventilated and in intensive care. Keep on pulling for him.

Indeed the reports of his death seem to have been premature.
One German climbing website reported it and everyone else jumped on the wagon and copied the news.

So at the moment it seems that he is still alive, althought reports say there is "very little hope".
