We threw Layton a little party this month in southern Nevada, a multi-day barbecue climbing and power-camping thing. I even rented him a motor home to crash in and Jorge Urioste drove it out from Vegas.
He had the best day of climbing he's had in months, and got to see some new rocks, eager as a little kid.
This week though he has started having trouble with his fistula, the obtaining of which was so problematic. You can only get soo many. It might neccesitate another trip to Denver.
With all that is going on, Bird etc., it is tiresome for me to put the touch on the community again, but if LK is gonna put on his travelling shoes he's gonna need some green.
I still have a PILE of gear from last year's sad story. So much it defies photography. The biggest cams have already been spoken for, but there are MANY wires, smaller cams, stacking devices, heads, biners, channel angles (for sawed offs?), blades, rurps, crack tacks, circle heads, foxheads, some funky old bongs and other items with stories one can only speculate on.
Really only interested in 3 (or more) figure offers with checks made out to Layton.
Some day, hopefully not soon, the check alone with his endorsement on the back will be "re-worth" its face value and the gear will be gravy.
I always throw in a few extra items with each bundle, and if there are requests not covered by the inherited gear I might send some stamped RO instead of KC.
Just don't tell Shorty, but bump the thread for a while. Lets see what we can do for him.
(BTW, he has discovered an herbal medicine that, taken orally, has helped stimulate his appetite, something that has been a problem since dialysis requires limited fluid intake.)

Did you get my couple of e-mails about doing a commemorative shirt ala Bridwellfest? I never heard back from you.

I am game for any free-climbing gear, trad or sport (especially for a good cause like this). Intro aid gear might work too, though I am just learning that stuff and have no clue what's worth what (or what it's used for - some of the aid gear looks suspiciously like devices sold in non-climbing shops in the West Village).
PS. Could you post a list? I would take your word for the condition and history of the gear, no need for pictures.
PPS. I'll throw in $200 and see what I get. Where do I send a check or can I just use a cc?

Tell me what you want out of the list above.
If it is stamped RO rather than KC does it matter?

I'd go for wires/nuts/hexes, small/medium cams in working order, biners of any kind, slider nuts.
Otherwise, I'd just donate some cash "freefrom" and you could throw something my way that you feel might be useful for a slow aid learner (took me an hour today to traverse 30ft of a 5.5 slab using aiders and hooks).
PS. is there a paypal account or do you want a check?

A Kor Benefit T shirt is now officially in the works. Details will be posted during the week of March 29 (after I get back from a Ditch visit!)

Not to worry, but you weren't drilling on rappel were you?
Thanks to the people that have PMed me without posting. Looks like we're well on the way to giving Shorty another bite of the apple.
Good on you all.

Many kind offers being emailed.
Very uplifting to see the gang help out.
Maybe we should set up a Vegas slide show.Layton really cannot manage to go "on tour". Would people fly in?

Sorry Base, didn't mean to be trite. I hold a part interest in a Texas well and capital outlays can be brutal. But I don't know if the male prostitute thing has much of a chance,....
(at least at Birdfest. LOL).
Anyway, people have been emailing kind offers. Lets keep this bumped.
Gilwad, your response got auto-returned to me. You get it?

Oil, prostitution - hey - drilling is drilling. You probably have an aptitude, but losing your rig down a hole doing either is not really a profitable way to go. That said, it happens all the time.

Ho man, I cut fish for hours at that Tarbuster gig but barely got to eat a thing.
As far as Birdfest; seems unlikely as I'll have a lot going on, also, Layton has dialysis every saturday and, since he insists on riding only in my beemer I'd high center before I got halfway up the driveway.
(Pretty funny to see Shorty climb out of a car that is barely 40" high.)

Apparently there is confusion; the gear for sale was Kyle's not Layton's.
It actually DOES belong to Layton now, but which of the pieces was used by Kyle when he climbed with Layton is anybody's guess.
But Kyle was no chopped liver either.

I don't think so. The advertising is lacking and lame.
I am ready to consider a purchase when you clean up this yard sale.

Thanks Base.
As for MTucker, shouldn't that be Mt. Phucker? Boy, somebody's always gotta pee in the punchbowl!
Its not like I have nothing better to do than to spend an hour organizing Kyle's crap in my driveway and take pics, but I can see which way you're making the wind blow so I did.
I'm on dial up so when Steve gets done with work I'll go over to his computer and post them and you can see just HOW much you are asking.
Thanks pard!
I spoke with Layton last night. He's bumming about the fistula and may give Flagstaff a try in a couple days. I want to raise him the bucks fast; he has enough to worry about. I spoke to one of his docs last night afterwards. They can put them in the leg, but arms are preferable.
I assure anyone that contributes that I will attempt to get them some stuff they'll be happy with, but this is about helping Shorty, and a check with his signature on the back will likely become something of value way too soon to most people's way of thinking.
So really, does it matter if its dinged up or if its a #3 instead of a #4?
Chances are; its a little piece of history.

Geez, Mt Phucker. See what you get? You opened your mouth and used it to insult. Now you just earned a permanent nickname here on ST.
People like Ron are trying to do good things.
