Dear Webmaster,
At the top of my screen it says "climbers' forum" then trip reports, gear reviews, and other sub-sections I can click. I am in the climbing forum right now.
The current climbing forum as I logged in today had a front page mainly with either pro or anti-Obama threads, a Bible study page, warfare and Obama, Obama is a lying sack of sh#t,etc.
Seriously. We need a separate subfile for politics and religion or another one for climbing. Cause the two aren't mixing well. I don't have a lot of time to check back here each day, but when I do I'd love to see the best new threads on climbing and what's out there. On the front page. And for those with a desire to debate politics or religion, let them find a place at ST to do that but not in the climbing forum.
That way everyone wins. We just separate the angry debating threads from the actual climbing threads.
Thanks!

I'm agreeing with Dingus.
Fluoride- there's a lot of content on the trip reports tab, set your home page there. You're making a mountain out of a molehill. Stop it. Or not. Let's argue about it. On the climbers' forum.
Yeah, it's a climbers' forum.

Dingus, I love ya man but in the last 6 months or so it's become unbearable.
I miss SO many good climbing threads since I don't have a lot of time to come here. When I do, they've been bumped off the front page cause of "debate" threads on politics and religion - with all the back and forth - bump everything else. I have to go back 2 or 3 pages to find the day's climbing related posts.
See, that's where I'd like the forums separated. Because politics and religion will ALWAYS get back and forth responses and thus always be on the front page. And while that's happening, CLIMBING threads get bumped into oblivion.
I'm not joking when I said I didn't know about the Half Dome cable issue until I got C-Mac's ST-newsletter. Because every time I logged in it was already off the front page cause people were arguing back and forth on political issues, which bumps those threads to the top.
Let climbers argue religion and politics. Nothing wrong with that. But it needs it's own forum cause it's overtaken the CLIMBING forum. There just needs to be a separation.

BTW Juan...that's just sad. I'm a witch for wanting you guys to get your own wonderful sub-forum for political and religious debates? Just so a climbing forum can be about climbing?
So perfect.

I hate to point this out, Beth, but I don't see "Climbing Forum". I see Climber's Forum.
This is a round and round discussion. I'm not going to say you are wrong by asking. But it tends to fall on deaf ears. And I'm not entirely not OK with that....
though maybe there should be a polititard and religitard tab....
And I still like the Idea of a "For Sale" tab....
and a SushiFest tab ;-)
Edit: and a Dab Tab for, well, you know....

I agree with Dingus as well.
However, if something of this sort gains steam, I'd rather have the politics threads redirected to a separate tab.
Edit: Even a better solution below

wouldn't a happy compromise be some function that would let the individual tag certain threads and filter or delete them locally?
i'd be on board for that if it could in fact be coded.

I just don't want one girl to equal 20 guys. Opinion-wise. That's all. This issue has already been addressed ad nauseum on other threads and I thought it was settled. From hundreds of heads weighing in, not just one.

hooblie.... yeah... I do like the idea of individual localize censorship. by thread and by author.
though all those threads where LEB is talking to herself would get even more confusing!

Um corn.... no offense intended here. But you have 180+ posts. I state that only to point out that it probably means you've not been around for the oh so many years this discussion has been going on. Maybe you switched handles and have been around..... but this has been a discussion since I first came to this forum 8 years ago. It's not settled, it'll never be settled. It's part of the mosh pit we know and love as "The Taco".
m'eh!
Pate: well, if you live on this forum that's one thing. yes, you'd get bored of the total summation of the climbing content. But Beth doesn't live her. She frequents regularly and not often. So there's more than enough pure climbing content to keep folks like her busy (if they can find it!).

Meh. Eat sushi.
Kiddin, nature. Love the buddhist feel you give me.
My two cents: If this forum were changed in any way, its dynamism would plummet. Don't change what's not broken. Just sayin.

Look, all I'm saying is I'd like to log in and see a page with climbing treads on it. As a climber, that's why I come here. But I come here less and less because it's become a forum of people debating politics, religion, etc.
Have at it, but let's separate the forums so those that want to debate stuff have a place, and those who just want to talk climbing have a forum where that's what's going on. Everybody wins that way!
And I shouldn't be called a witch like Juan did for that to happen. Low blow Juan. All I'm asking for is a happy compromise.

This had been brought up time and again and always voted down.
Climber's forum. Not climbing forum.
How do you police what threads go where? How do you keep off topic comments out of climbing threads? You don't.
So you click a few times to see all the threads for that day. Big deal.
I remember when the forum went from all the days topics fitting on one page to multiple pages. Not the end of the world.
People post on political threads and say take it to the big thread, and for the most part people do.
