Now that the big wall gear sling review is done, I am moving on to climbing gloves. I'll be launching them this week and next.

First up are Homemade Fingerless Climbing Glove where I put together a little photo tutorial on how to do it. Please post at the bottom of that review if you have any tricks for making homemade gloves.

Next, are some of my favorites: PMI Fingerless Glove which are just soooo soft.

A big thanks to everyone who has been posting reviews at the bottom of the product pages. They are awesome!!

Handball gloves Son.... I have used them for many years. They are strong and fit close enough so you never have to take them off when aid climbing, whether leading or following. BID some climbers used "driving gloves". Also "mechanics gloves" that you can get at Pepboys, autozone, Costco etc are very useful too... you will quickly learn to "feel" the gear through the gloves. So you will never have the tips of your fingers, fingernails etc. trashed again when aid climbing. Plus they are all relatively inexpensive... trust me here lads/lasses...

Those made to climb gloves are so overpriced! Glad to see you included make your own gloves. You can get a 3 pack at costco for less than $20.

my 'make my owns' always fell apart once the finger sleeve was opened.

When I made a pair into fingerless I went back in with needle and thread to hand re-sew in the last could stitches, and this kept them from falling apart.

Brand new the Metolius ones tear up the hands. I made the mistake with my second pair of jumping right on a wall with them almost new. I had painful ripped up skin in between my fingers...

I like the framing gloves [i.e. Ironclad] for aid climbing.

Except that any REAL wall rat could never afford Ironclad gloves!

{Even being able to afford them, the $ would be much better spent on swill!}

Seriously, though. I just use whatever I can drum up.
MONEY is saved for swill, as indicated upthread(hmmmm, wise monkey).
Cheers, Chris, Love your new additions.

Those cheap white cotton gloves with little grip dots all over them work great. They used to be about $20 for 10 prs. at most good hardware stores.
They offer full hand protection.
Dave Wonderley turned me on to them. I laughed at first but they are XL. A wrap of duct tape around the wrist in the morning helps.
El Cap with zero hand damage.
Best for aid, or course.

unfinished sentence?

Because they are made entirely of cowhide, these gloves take a little while to break in. At first they don't have the best dexterity but then they soften up. The PMI Fingerless Glove on the other hand is soft right away and offer better slightly better dexterity. It's a trade off: do you want the better dexterity of goatskin with the PMI or more durability with the Metolius? Because
