went down on wed/ thurs to try out the new boots. rebroke the trail out right of the boulder fields, snowshoes only.wet/warm conditions on the ice.
thursday was better travelling in our track and the ice was better but still wet.ellery lake was drained in the fall so not alot of ice for the holiday crowds. or the guiding circus either!

thanks for the post; I've been asking for info.

I'm not certain but it looks like your first picture is the Main Wall (with ice) and with Bard-Har. off to the left dry as a bone? And your second pic is Chouinard?

Am I seeing right?

thanks again

I though it would be best to add to the chatter.

Sounds like Doug is working with the water company. This may be just high hopes in returing the Bard Harington back to what it was in it's hay day.

All the best in making that happen.

Cheers! Brian

Hey Brian,

I was told about 2 months ago by a guy in Mammoth that he had been working with
the county, DWP, etc to allow access to some winter water for LVC. I'm not so sure
this is fully accurate as nothing has happen as of late, but we can hope for the best.

By the way, I still think that "one flew over the nest", would be better named the
"Farmers Market". :)

I thought the first picture with 6 ice climbers was absurd....The second photo is just wrong.......
The next time I head to LeeVining I'll bring an AK.....Maybe fixin' the leak will keep the 7 Summiters club out of our beloved little canyon.

That pic that Stewart posted HAS TO BE during the BD demo day in LVC. It happens in Jan.
, always mid-week, with the hope of not pissing to many folks off. That is a very rare size
crowd for LVC. How would I know, I've been in their on a regular basis for 30+ yrs.

Hi Doug-

Thank you and the other guy for all your hard working in trying to get it back to what it was in it's limelight!

Sorry, when first climbing the route we didn't ask for outside thoughts on naming it. Just went with what came to mind when we topped out.

Cheers! Brian

Brian,

I'm just jealous that you guys got it first, as I was in Canada at the time. I hate to miss
such great looking ice, especially when it's 20 minutes from my house. You guys got the coolest
LVC line I've seen in 30+ yrs. Kudos mate !

Hey Doug-

It would have been great if you were there to join us. There were many others like the candlestick that I myself missed out on...
