Monty and I got up early and left from Sunnyvale at 5am with a plan to climb After Six and then join some friends for some camping. Having wasted time buying caffeine, sugar, and white flour at Starbucks in Oakdale, and dropping some hitch-hiking climbers off at Camp 4, we were not surprised to find quite a few climbers in the Manure Pile Buttress parking lot.
We threw on our packs and walked over to the base of the climb, and amazingly, we were first in line. I attribute this to good karma from picking up the hitch hikers.
The first pitch was fun and intense, as described.

And the rest of the climb was a nice mix of casual scrambling and short 5.6 steps. We had a good time. We particularly enjoyed a snack of pizza and candy bars at the summit.

Unfortunately, what with all the gear we brought, we forgot to include approach shoes.

This lead to blisters on my toes upon descent, and made our run up the first pitch of After Seven a little less entertaining. I think I'll come back and have a look at that one with less-tender feet.
The next day we enjoyed the first pitch of Jam Crack, and having heard the traffic report on Munginella, decided it would be a fine plan to be home by dinner time, thus preserving marital capital for our next climbing trip.
Good times.
