eddie b. and i went to see him at a venue in half moon bay. jazz society meeting at someones beachfront house. byob? and cheese. crowded as an elevator. despite being in the same livingroom, we didn't really see him till the set ended and he was plucked off his bench and moved through the crowd in the arms of someone he trusted. got to admire his gift. i was thinking about him just two days ago. his surname is easily confused with another. what neighbors to tolerate a massive inundation, chaos parking for blocks all around and beach sand drifted throughout. you pull up some great ones largo

That was the Bach Dancing and Dynamite Society Hooblie. He recorded some great albums and played live for quite awhile with Charles Lloyd. Charles, who hadn't been touring for some time, instead hanging at his house in Big Sur, came out of his temporary retirement to play with Michel and showcase his talent. I have seen Charles play live twice in the last few years and both shows were incredibly powerful. The first time with Geri Allen on Piano and the last one with Jason Moran. Already have a ticket for his December show here in Seattle, can't wait.

ya, that's right. great name, the kind of outfit i sorely lacked for, i was down from AK visiting my folks and determined to get some culture. how the heart longs. i used to say whats wrong with alaska isn't a problem down in the lower 48, and what's wrong with the lower 48 isn't a problem up north. heard some good music in anchorage/fairbanks tho, and you can see alaska from there
charles lloyd plays on a joe sample cd i've got, i'll cue it up. i'm thinking ... any chance he toured with flora purim/airto moriera?
