How can this be legal? Adding riders on to bills that are not even related to the original bill?
GOD, I hope Obama catches this and says, nice try as#@&%es!
(fat chance)
For the people and BY the people my ass, we are being controlled by a bunch of slick used car salesmen!
Oh and in case someone tries to read something into this post that is not here, all I am talking about are the riders. Got it?

"President Ronald Reagan first required guns to be stored or inoperable in national parks 25 years ago, but last December, just before leaving office, the Bush administration overturned that rule."
OK, Repub gun nuts, who does your allegiance lie with...Reagan or Shrub?

file this under "there will never be a shortage of people to tell you how to be"
remarkable how possesion of a firearm has been stygmatized as some kind of an offense, in and of itself.
on the other hand the state of alaska has a list of survival equipment that is required by statute to be on board and a firearm is on that list. better make it a rifle because there's no getting a handgun across the border into canada.
so when i flew my plane to the lower 48 i was a scofflaw for purposes of administrative convienience. if they could just get this kind of thing sorted out i would have been willing to buy my first weapon. likely a 22/410 over under. may as well use the fishing rod for bear protection. started to feel like a flying weapons cache, so i skipped the whole thing, risking a regretable decision.
my real fetish is for a 175lb crossbow: magnesium casting, polished brass mechanics, brushed stainless scope. but that seems to have some BS attached that i'm not far enough into to even find out about, state by state, jurisdiction by jurisdiction.
just sayin' there's more than hoods in the valley to consider when writing rules for our great nation. stinks about the rider style subterfuge the legislative process stoops to

Lame logic Piton Ron. Innocent tourists being shot? I suppose just like all the innocents being shot by gangbangers in LA? Interesting, they don't carry guns leagally or own them leagally for that matter. I remember being stuck in the valley in the late 90's when the park service was searching for an armed fugitive. The traffic was backed up for miles leaving the park. You should have seen the weapons the rangers had at the Tioga Pass entrance. They weren't playing! Neither was I, which was why I was packing heat anyway. I would have rather had my day in court than end up being killed by some slime bag.

Be interesting to see who is going to be ALLOwed to carry in the park and for what reasons. the real downside to this is the probobly for the critters. Bear gets close and the chicken sh#t nascar fan starts shooting....

It was Republican Senator Tom Coburn of Oklahoma who stuck the gun amendment on to the credit card legislation.
He will NOT pull it out, and the Republican Senators owe him on other legislation so it stays.
Obama either signs the bill or does not get credit card reform
The bill will allow someone who has a Concealed Carry Permit to carry in a national park within the state he has a permit in.
Percentage wise, very few people have a Concealed Permit, so the impact of this is likely to be minimal, in fact a non issue.

Totally inane adherence to the principle that Mericans should be able to have any type of weapon anywhere and at anytime is damn sure going to backfire. In civilized society compromise for the good of the whole is not only preferable, it's the friggin glue that that holds things together. I still think it's part of the male big "D" syndrome. If you don't have one maybe a really fast car or a gun will be a good substitute. Y'all should check out some of the male enhancement ads- could save you some money.

As I understand it, from the beta I received from NRA. You have to be licensed in that state for a CCW( concealed carry weapon)for handguns. CA is very difficult to get a CCW. you have to go through CA before you can get to a national park, which has so many state restrictions on firearms that most people I know prefer to leave there toys at home when going to CA. Interesting gesture but I don't think it has anything to do with CA parks. EX LEO and current LEO carry, but assault style rifles with high cap mags are illegal in CA anyways. Where's the fun in that?
Now a park like yellowstone or even great basin are going to be more impacted by this regulation change.Mainly because of the gun friendly state laws of both areas.

Sheesh! Can't win.
What was the quote about giving up freedom to enhance security and deserving neither, Jim?
Oh yeah, that's right, let's allow Big Brother to look after us.
The irony is; Chefclimber was packing the ONE time when it was a really bad idea, namely; during the "bastard search" for the imaginary felonious poacher created by (now ex-ranger) Affenhauser.
A sad state of affairs all the way round (save for a little sense in the regulations).

"Thank God and the US Bill of Rights"
Two things that should always be included together.?!?
Maybe rangers won't feel so inclined to yank folks over left and right. Wait, that didn't work outside of the parks. Oh well.
Nice Jim D!
