Feel free to express yourself today, anyone.
Any pet peeves, pet problems, or petulance with regard to anything...wait, what does petulant mean again?

Yeah, okay.

Never mind, go post on First World Problems or to a politard thread.

We'll stick with cars and everything else here.

Lately I've read some of Elmore Leonard's westerns. They are a break from the hours of meticulous research, the back-breaking labor of scanning, and the mind-numbing task of editing photos.

Not to mention keeping this Bounce House organized.

Nice day for a stroll.

I'm going to go take a turn or two around the block(s).

Get out of this kindergarten for a bit.

Call me a "square," but I'd never heard it until zBrown posted it some time ago, or another of Chuck Wlllis' strolls.

Some fool poked the F12 function key on my computer and thereby deleted my carefully crafted Mickey Thompson post. I'm not naming Goodwin, but it certainly seems suspicious.

Hi-Tec Guru? ... pfffffffffffffft ... Weren't you using protection?

This'll provide the flavor, if not the meat and potatoes of the thing.

By LINDA DEUTSCH - Associated Press - Tuesday, October 28, 2014

LOS ANGELES (AP) - A lawyer for a man convicted of murdering auto racing great Mickey Thompson and his wife urged a California appellate court panel on Tuesday to overcome distaste for defendant Michael Goodwin and reverse his case.

Defense attorney Gail Harper said there was insufficient evidence at Goodwin’s trial to tie him to the killings in 1988 in suburban Los Angeles.

“Mr. Goodwin is an angry man and he’s kind of a jerk,” she said. “But being a jerk is not a crime.”

Mr. & Mrs. Thompson were killed in 1988, the same year I moved to La Crescenta. A friend and former neighbor is friends with Mr. Thompson's son in an un-named location.

Hey there you slay me zBrown!

I had to re-do once this morning after building a post for a half-hour.

The same fool that hit your F12 showed up here and made me lose the WRONG WINDOW. I can't blame the new computer mouse, it's some other tool, fool, or K-8 drop-out.

Maybe MooseDrool.

But it happens and all you can do is try, try, try because you can can can.

(A big thank you to the ever-lurking neebee.)

I had a question for Gypsy, but forgot it; so forget it. Hello, Asheville Gal, long as I'm thinking about you.

Trying to lighten things up:[Click to View YouTube Video]
But then sh#t happens to darken things because.......

Happiness runs circularly. [Click to View YouTube Video]Haight to say it, but I never really enjoyed the HA but three times out of many visits, and that was well before '69.

It's not that anyone really bought the farm, they just moved over to Marin and down to Santa Cruz, many of these children of love. But they ended up all over, really.

Some transplanted to Berkeley, and it's strange, but lots of new hippie stock seemed to have arrived from neighboring towns and the valley towns in SF in the early seventies.

So this is to show you that it's not good to make generalizations.

Avoid them at all costs. Nine out of ten scientists recommend it.

I had a senior moment, couldn't recall what or who I wanted to mention.

Ram Dass. He and I only ever met up once, and we didn't converse, but he lectured, preached, stoked, and joked (Baba may have cracked a funny...it's been about 44-45 yrs) at an ashram in the Mission.

Pete Donohoe lived in SF, Larry Moore and I took my van and cruised down from the Valley and spent the night and went to this gathering. Never been to another ashram since, just haven't had that opportunity.

It was, shall I say, a "vibrant" experience. I'll leave it at that and just say "warm and fuzzy on a foggy day." It was memorable, but I've spoken of it before, so...

That's all.

Hey there say, folks.

Coyote alert for the Eastern Madera foothills...

They've been sighted in the vicinity of Oakhurst, according to our correspondent in Mushigon, Miskegan.
It's a long ways from California but news spreads fast.

I hope this goes viral, brujo, el curandero grande.

Not a diamond in the rough. The author titles this one: A Diamondback in my Garden. Sorry no music supplied. Try Lucy in the Sky with Diamondbacks. (Careful scrutiny reveals that the author goes by "the blonde coyote".

Words to the wise or maybe from the wise. As Vanilla Ice used to say word to your mother.

A few weeks ago, my neighbors’ rhodesian ridgeback was bitten by a rattlesnake right on the nose and when she began having trouble breathing and drinking, they rushed her to the vet. Their vet did not recommend antivenin (often mistakingly called antivenom) because a lot of dogs have a severe reaction to the antivenin itself. It’s also really expensive: $500-1,000 a dose depending on the size of the dog. Instead they gave her IV fluids, antibiotics and pain meds and kept her for 36 hours of observation. Their bill was $400.

$400 is actually amazing. Overnighters for dogs at some other local vets can run up to nearly $2000.

Do dogs get medicare? Do they fear the political philosophy in it's inherent socialism? Ask Vanilla Ice (when he gets out of jail).

"Coyotes" of several different stripes.

Just as there is more than one species of zebra (plains, mountain, & Grevy's) the humble coyote comes in many guises and is known to be a trickster among Native Americans.

You've never taken the off-ramp to Coyote, California, have you? Nor have I. Morgan Hill's gas station restrooms are RIGHT THERE and you don't lose much time in travelling Hwy 101.

I recall that at one time, it was on the Butterfield Overland, and we were might glad to have that pee break. They carried the Overland Males and Females on that stage, but the stage station in Coyote had just the one outhouse, slowing the Overland Mail somewhat.

Coyotes are shy animals, but not to be confused with the adaptable chayote, a gourd vine which is native to Mexico but which has spread out in its range in all directions.
I've never tried the chayote, and I've never been to a...the Hookers' Ball, nor have I stopped in Coyote.

I love the movie Little Big Man...I have a "thang" for Kelly Jean Peters, who played Jack Crabb's sister, Olga.

I go all "snake eyed" about her. Such a natural gal, if a little pushy.

So I'm googling away after seeing the clip zBrown posted above, and find this web page.
http://mash.wikia.com/wiki/Kelly_Jean_Peters

It tells me of her most recent movie appearance in 2001's Killer Bud which I never heard of till now...and won't seek it out after watching the trailer.

I got to wondering about the thread Smoke Weed Every Day as a result. Well, it's history. We all knew it was just a matter of time.

Really fun thread while it lasted, the Larry.

like the coyote
weed threads make their appearance
and don't last till fall

but not from some tears I cried

I definitely don't want pizza.

Like Custer always said, approximately, "it's good for your goonads".

John Hammond did music for Little Big Man (I don't know if he did it all).

Never had much luck tracking any of it down until today.

I got it now Robbie, may put this onto the Utube.

There is a vinyl soundtrack with a lot of talking mixed, but no straight music version. Mike Bloomfield play on it too.

We are on a ship of fools, are we not, my fellow argonauts?

Two fools and their dog: Bevin's Brooklyn bunch--sweetheart Dara and the china doll, Macy, in elf costume.

They did all the work, including collaborating on a seasonal poem, sewing the costume, and designing the production--and then forgot to order the cards for their Christmas card list!

They just sent them out, maybe a record for late posting; but who knows?

Still kinda gripes me that they excluded Dwight from this one. Apparently only Bob Weir had any formal ballet training.

Aoxomoxoa photo shoot at Rancho Olompali: Bob Weir, Ken Babbs (?), Bill Kreutzmann, Phil Lesh, Jerry Garcia, Tom Constanten, Mickey Hart, Ron "Pigpen" McKernan, with photographer Tom Weir in the foreground.

Rancho Olompali was a 8,877-acre (35.92 km2) Mexican land grant in present day Marin County, California given in 1843 by governor Manuel Micheltorena to Camilo Ynitia, son of a Coast Miwok chief.

Camilo Ynitia [he didn't claim to be no daisy] was the son of Chief Olompali, who led a tribe of Miwoks in Marin. He was born in a mountainous region of Marin, near San Pablo Bay, but he was raised at Mission San Rafael. He had two daughters with his first wife, Cayetana, who died in 1850 after a fall from her horse. Before he died, he married Susana Maria and, according to legend, buried saddlebags full of gold (from his sale of land to Black) in the hills of his ranch.

Upon his death in 1856, rumor spread that robbers searching for his gold had murdered him. The details of his death are unknown, however.

The name Olompali comes from the lost Coast Miwok language and likely means southern village or southern people, states the state park's brochure. It has been in existence since 500 A.D. or nearly 2,000 years. It was a major Miwok center in 1,200 A.D. and seems to have been one of the largest in Marin County.
