Reading up on the subject. I understand that NPS cleans this up every now and then. To the point of sandblasting graffiti.

I'm a huge fan of Gram Parsons and knew the story of his demise and even stayed a few nights in the Josh Motel where he OD'd.
Never actually visited the cremation site cause I wasn't sure where at Cap Rock it was at. Hallowed ground, must check it out next time.

For the record, I'm not condoning graffiti or trashing the Monument (or any wilderness for that matter) for anybody's memory, even Gram.

For the record I agree.
But I have to add that I've been there and it was eerily interesting.
I don't remember who but someone took me out there during one of my visits in the 70s.

Was just there last week. A couple of college aged women who were staying in 'his' room played his CDs at top volume with the door open and twisted my arm into participating in what I believe was an unsuccessful seance. I don't really have an opinion on this one way or the other...just thought it would be an opportune time to share this photo.

I think it would be beneficial for peace and harmony on this site if Locker and Al Leister would meet at the cremation site for a hug-fest..

I picked up about seventy-five cents in change that was just laying around, last time I was there.

At the Joshua Tree Inn resides a creme colored cat. I was told by the management that the spirit of Gram Parsons dwells in that cat, and if I paid extra for Gram's room, the cat could spend the night in the room with me.

Well... I didn't spend the night in Gram Parson's room...I didn't even know who Gram was. But later, when no one was looking...I asked the cat..."Sir, can you intone any wisdom or admonitions from the Netherworld?"

He just purred:
