These are the kind of shots you get when you can't see the viewfinder on the camera, and the camera's flying on a kite.

Ryan Campground

Morton Peak Lookout

Construction at Crafton Hills College. I was trying to get shots of the crane in the top of the pic, looking down the boom.

Rhythms Of Life geoglyph by Andrew Rogers. Shitters by Andy Gump. north of Yucca Valley

Redlands Bicycle Classic. God Bless whoever decided to put the outhouse there this year, it made drinking beer while watching the race a practical possibility.

Rose Bowl, Pasadena California.

The south-west most toilet in the Continental United States. Fence is the U.S. / Mexico border.

I got a dozen in one shot here! This is the *water park* in Redlands you see from the 10 freeway. If it's a waterpark, why the portable johns?

Shots where I managed to get the subjects in frame are here:

I'm not the only one.

This guy managed a nice shot of one in Ventura:

He's the only other guy in So-Cal who's flying kites and cameras besides me, as far as I can tell.

The privies at Camp Muir are three in number, His, Hers and Handicap. Handicap!? How did there come to be a handicap shitter at a place that require a long hike over a permanent snowfield? The answer is that the Park Service was sued by a man who wanted to climb Rainier using a hand-cranked sled. He wanted a privy he could drive his wheelchair into, so he sued. It cost a small fortune.

OK, I'm a lawyer and a big advocate of the Americans with Disabilities Act, but that's just stupid. What an arrogant tool. I give him a lot of credit for his efforts, but let's get some perspective here.

Yeah Fat Dad. It appears the plaintiff was just plain angry at the fully-abled and damn the torpedoes apparently. Misuse of important law leads to disintegrations never imagined.

Misuse of important law leads to disintegrations never imagined.

Some laws definitely present that potential. Some, like Mark Wellman, try to use their accomplishments to further awareness and inspire others to look beyond their physical limitations. I think his climb would have had presented a very different end result if he sued the Park Service to install facilities on the Captain.

Just really misdirected.
