Also intriguing, but more so as the years tick by,
is how much we remember of things that never happened
and so little of things we thought we knew well.

On my last week of leave
I rode reign upon my Ceffyl Dŵr
To high o'er misty mountains
To waterfalls and frosty lakes there
Dismounting from my Ceffyl Dŵr
I walked beyond the mystic curtains
To find the maiden standing there
She stole my heart that was for certain
Though I had to go for off to war
I would return to marry her
Once astride again my Ceffyl Dŵr
The cold night followed after

Which mammals have the largest number of offspring?
Probably the Tailless Tenrec (Tenrec ecaudatus) of Madagascar,
although it depends how you measure it.
Mammals can have very variable litter sizes, but as a rule,
the maximum litter size is the number of nipples,
and the average litter size about half that.
In their native Madagascar, Tailless Tenrecs (21-29 nipples) have litters of roughly 15 on average,
with up to 32 reported in the wild.

The naked mole-rat would be another contender, with one litter of 33 reported.
