So, nothing bad happens when the government shuts down, I guess.
Of course bad things happen when the government shuts down. That's why it's an effective tactic, IF the American people take their debts seriously. Worse things will happen if we don't address our debt.
Regarding calling Clinton a "public servant," no, sorry, I simply can't go there with you. Whatever else she is, public servant she is not.

DMT, you may well be correct. If so, the day is coming in which people will be frantic to blame somebody for the consequences of their own priorities.
Oh, and to add to my earlier list of budget items: The military budget will be cut in half over an eight year period.

Don't ever bitch about Hillary's supposed lies while supporting him.
Amen! Hold 'em both to the same standards of evaluation.

House Benghazi Report Finds No New Evidence of Wrongdoing by Hillary Clinton
It is over finally, after years and 7 million dollars desperately spent trying to lower the electability of an opposing political politician, cleverly disguised as investigating a terrorist attack on our embassy.
so now, all the exciting lying is over and done, and they are left with....nothing

House Benghazi Report Finds No New Evidence of Wrongdoing by Hillary Clinton
Emphasizing the key word.
so now, all the exciting lying is over and done, and they are left with....nothing
"Nothing"?
Ahh, the spin zone.
Actually, what the article said was:
...it delivered a broad rebuke of government agencies like the Defense Department, the Central Intelligence Agency and the State Department — and the officials who led them — for failing to grasp the acute security risks in the Libyan city, and especially for maintaining outposts in Benghazi that they could not protect.
Note the mention of the State Department "and the officials who led them" (that's Hillary, in case you refuse to make that connection).
...also harshly criticized an internal State Department investigation that it said had allowed officials like Mrs. Clinton, then the secretary of state, to effectively choose who would investigate their actions.
Hmm... "choosing who would investigate [her] actions" seems to be the preferred MO of Mrs. Clinton.
...it issued stinging criticism of the overall delay in response and the lack of preparedness on the part of the government.
Yeah, when I read "lack of preparedness on the part of the government," particularly the State Department run by Mrs. Clinton, I immediately get "nothing" from that. Uh huh.
Of course, the radically-left NYT, not surprising, interprets the above to conclude: "But the lack of any crisp, hard-hitting allegation of professional misconduct or dereliction of duty, was certain to fuel further criticism of the length the investigation...."
Well, that's one interpretation, I suppose. Another is: Mrs. Clinton was the buck-stopper for the department most directly in charge of knowing the risks of her assets and the approaches necessary to provide them with needed protections. She was asleep at the wheel, declined to acknowledge the escalating risks, and ultimately had no good response to the tragedy. None of that is "nothing."
The fact that nothing "new" was uncovered does not equate to "nothing," except in the minds of those that refuse to hold her accountable.
She's no more fit to be president than His Hairness.

Don't get me wrong, its coming. Because its always coming. If repeatedly saying so gives you the desired emotional response, well please, continue :)
You've neatly reduced the whole thing to "nothing to see here," but that's amazingly blithe. The "it" I'm talking about is not always coming. This "it" is avoidable with decisive action now. And this "it" if it comes truly will put all previous "its" to shame. I'm talking about global economic collapse precipitated by the collapse of the dollar.
My "saying so" has nothing to do with making myself feel good. It has everything to do with saying that if we don't very quickly get some leadership that will make it his/her top priority to pull us back from the brink, then the moaning that is to come will make all possible "austerity" moaning seem like happy cheers by comparison.
And if/when that day comes, my point will not be "told you so." It will be: Blame the right entities for this result, so that your ensuing revolution will produce a correct, legitimate, and sustainable result.
If the causes can be predicted now, well in advance, then it pays to go on record about those causes, so that in the heat of the moment there's something less "heated" to refer back to. We have time to think this through right now and attempt to pull back from the catastrophe.

Did this Republican boondoggle find anything that the other 8 investions found? No.
There was only one purpose to Gowdy's circus: damage Hillary Clinton politically. Shameful waste of money and time.

Is it going to happen.
I don't share your fatalism. There are specific and very doable steps we could take now to pull back from that brink. Maybe future generations would leap over it, but there's no reason for that result in the foreseeable future.
Your argument is akin to: Death WILL happen; so each of us should just eat a bullet right this moment.
Even if global collapse were inevitable (which I deny), that doesn't mean that this generation must ensure that the event happens on its watch.
We have the power to unload the gun rather than put it into our mouth and pull the trigger.

What else would you expect from a Republican report that Democrats on the committee were not even allowed to comment on? You can't possibly be serious.

Got it. We're doomed, fatalism is the only sane perspective, and the only sensible actions are: Get some while the getting is still good.
Okay, you've managed to actually change my perspective. See, it CAN happen here at the taco stand.
So, with my perspective changed, screw "charity" and "equality" and all of those other idealistic chimeras. I'm going straight at becoming 1% and will vote ANY way I think will help me on that path.
You can take this "equality" crap and shove it. I want MINE and don't care about ANYBODY or ANYTHING else. It's all futile anyway, so I'm going seek enjoying MINE (and as much of is as possible) before checking out. What happens to the rest of you, the nation, or the world is meaningless to me.
Nothing can be done to save anybody. So, all that's left is me, ME, MEEEEEEEEEE!

Federal spending under Obama has grown faster than inflation, but far more slowly than it did under President Bush.
You're "checking" the wrong "facts" in response to my statements.
I said two things:
1) Obama has outspent Bush.
2) Obama essentially doubled the debt during his administration.
Both of those are unassailable facts.
As is the fact that you CANNOT "dig out of the hole" by increasing the depth of the hole.

Yes. And that's not just left wing attempts at dismissing it, either. Last fall, Kevin McCarthy, #2 repub in the House, and others, basically said this.

Actually, I'm not that fatalistic at all. It's going to happen, but that doesn't mean we become uncaring as#@&%es like many in the 1%. It's just that you're too fun to troll WOT.
Example, the Roman people, Egyptian people, Aztec people and so on, still exist. But they had to get over the idea that they were the most important people in the universe, like the Brits when their empire crumbled.
Unfortunately for the world we have the ability to burn the entire shithouse down on our way out the door...
