Back in the saddle again.
Racing the spitfires today.
They do about 95.
My P-51 under the bench does about 150 in practice.
We race the fast ones next month.
Lost an engine in this one today, landed ok.
Little foam Rare Bear is for sport and does 125 mph.
Ok bye, back to racing, holding on to 2nd for now...

^^^ "And I was flyin' hi-i-igh, all the way"

Candor - noun: the quality of being open and honest in expression; frankness.
Candid - adjective: 2. (of a photograph of a person) taken informally, especially without the subject's knowledge.

Like this one of a local group who play old school heavy metal, calling themselves Hot and The Heavies. During the disco era, they were The Cool Gang. In the early seventies they were (before being joined by the two back-up hoods, who were just big fans who would get on stage and dance) known as The Reefers.

Ruminating on the weather, I'd like to say that the month of March is an either-or proposition with respect to Yosemite Valley.

It's either climbable or not. Very few days are "iffy."

This has been my own experience, but I realize yours may vary.

There have been terrible days of storm, mornings on which I just rolled over and fergoddaboutit, the weather being appalling to anyone.

On the whole, though, when I have been up and had planned something but the sun scum is overhead and seemed threatening, causing second thoughts, I've learned that this is no reason at all to not go and at least TRY.

Fail climbing, in other words. (Hey there, say, Royal, thank you for that one.)

I wasted some days in this way when the rain did not appear; or it was so light and short-lived that it wouldn't have mattered one bit on the climb.

Today, from here in my crib, I can look out my solitary open window and see this sun scum. It is so warm out, too. Balmy, though this morning was cooler than yesterday. It's likely the same in Yosemite Valley.

There is one way I know to check - the free webcams.
This here is a wrinkle to the cams that I haven't noticed till just today, a landmarks ID is clickable at the bottom of the page for Turtleback Dome.
At any rate, I'm just experiencing spring fever. I hope you are, too.

Warbler and DMT and BushPilot, you look like you're really taking the time to do the right thing, guys.

So jealous I'm in danger of turning green myself.

Got back into RC flying again this year after a one year hiatus with an attitude to not get too worked up about winning. Took first place in our little race today beating out 17 other pilots. Moved up to 2nd on the year. I love pylon racing and warbird planes so I couldn't stay away for too long.

Won bragging rights today but the money and prizes come for the lucky winner in April when we race the ferocious nitro boosted Warbirds...can't wait! No, I'm not getting wrapped up in winning at all, ha ha!

PS
Racing model planes is where I got my call sign 'bushman' shortly after I started out in the hobby in back in 2005. RC aircraft racing gives me some of that adrenaline rush I used to get and still miss from climbing.

Good evening and welcome to Dragonfly Planet.

Break out the fairy dust (see feralfae and she'll take care of you) and come on along for a brief visit.

Things get pretty here and then you blink and you won't believe what you are seeing. Blink again and they seem pretty weird. Well, they are. The Flames has a chapter here now. We've dumped Chilo's Chile into the local plantings and the insetcs get all fired up.
Thank you for taking the trip.

Brought to you in part by Chilo's Chili and Tioga Florist.

Crows Landing Bar & Grill.
A few of the locals here like to go hang with the flyboys and bikers up there and we can't blame them, they're real friendly folks.
Beer garden with horseshoes, billiards, dancing to live music when it happens, and the owner, Peter Panhead, is a raconteur on a par with the likes of Swift and Serling.

Ratsputin Assassinated?

Dateline Merced
March 20, 2029

Sources in the MPD have reported the following occurrence which took place late yesterday at a downtown Merced high-rise, resulting in the death of a long-time resident and the arrest of a female suspect.

A woman claiming to be a Russian emigré and calling herself Lara or Larissa Antipova was apprehended and placed under arrest by police responding to reports of shots fired on the roof of the Trump Pinnacle Building, located on the site of the old Tioga Hotel, which was razed in 2018 by order of the US Municipalities Under 100,000 Act during the Terrible Time.

The victim died on the rooftop after seeking shelter there from the woman, who broke into his apartment and confronted him over something he may have done or said. He revealed this to the EMTs who worked on him before he expired from a gunshot witnesses say was fired by the woman, who referred to herself in the third person as Lara.

"Lara can take care of herself," she was reported to have said to the arresting officers of the local SWAT.

She also stated that she had found the man who she claimed is responsible for the Russian Revolution and the death of Czar Nicholas and his family.

"His name is Ratsputin, and it's him that I'm shootin'" was all that one witness heard as she was led out the entrance and into a waiting police squad car and taken to Sandy Mush for processing.

Deputies at the Sheriff's Hotel-a-Lago, as it's known, say that her finger prints match exactly to those of the budding rock singer Maus Burden, who disappeared in March, 2001, but this has not been confirmed by official reports, which are scanty.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.

We will have more on this as things are revealed.

Can't wait to find out what was up with Natasha and Bullwinkle there.

The Sunspot Conundrum at 7:09 AM

"Who is that?" said the frog
Seeing his reflection
As he jumped into the pond
Splash, the water parted
So he swam along
"Who was that who jumped on me?
Where is he?
Where has he gone?"

"Who am I?" I ask myself
In the mirror every day
Who am I to question life
Quite often as is my way
Where will I be tomorrow?
Assuming that I know
The same place I was yesterday
I'll be right where I go

"Who are you?" said the dog
Interrupting his play
Seeing his reflection
In the window every day
Why do you not play with me?
You only sit and stay
Beautiful as you are
With nothing for to say

Who are we?" I ask of us
Why do we keep at bay
Every unknown traveler
Or stranger on our way
If all the world were home to us
Would it always be ok
To uproot and go anywhere
On any given day?

"Who is that?" cried the bird
At it's shadow on the ground
Swooping down to land on it
There was nothing to be found
Like a phantom or a shadow
Who never makes a sound
Were we ever really here
After we're no longer around?

"Who, Who?" asked the owl
Who goes there in the night?
Are we ever that much different?
When we're never always right
What will happen tomorrow?
Will we find peace or find a fight?
As clueless as the shadows cast
By every bird in flight

Not recent but pretty decent. June 22, 2014.
Two of a sunset at City of Rocks, where all the climbers are hot dogs, all the women are lookers and hot mommas (many of whom climb better than the showy males), and the kids are just waiting in the shadows, smirking.

Bushman,
You called Bullwinkle, but I assure you, it's not Dean!
Next thing you know, he'll be bitchin' about copyright voliations and we don't need that! :0)

Better to just call it what it is, bullpuckey. Bullarney, this close to St. Paddy's.

Naw, there won't be another installment, that was just a standard literary ploy.

There is a basis, however, in The Little Book by Selden "Scenario" Edwards, which is basically time-travel involving a cameo with Adolph Hitler, seshes with Dr. Freud, and a near-rape scene involving the Maestro with Roamin' Hands, Gustav Mahler. I've mentioned it before.

In pseudo-fact, I hear another printing has been ordered up based on that recommendation, so what are you waiting for? Go order a copy online now, dude!

I may have stepped on Boris Pasternak's toes, I admit, as well.

We Superi-topians owe so much to Rocket J. Squirrel and to both Bullwinkles it's not funny but does deserve lampooning as much as, say, donini.

Hell, around here anyone and anything seems fair game.

Alive Until the End

Creation calls for self-surrender,
Not loud noise and cheap success.
Life must be lived without false face,
Lived so that in the final count
We draw unto ourselves love from space.

So plunge yourself into obscurity
And conceal there your tracks.
But be alive, alive your full share,
Alive until the end.
--B.Pasternak

Cheers, Jim and Angela!

Have you seen the Google Doodle today!!
A fiesty mouse awakes, shakes off the coma, then runs out, stage right.
He re-appears in the garden above his bedroom, where he retrieves,
a larger than himself, yellow bloom,
drags it off screen and back into his bedroom,
where he puts the giant flower in a jar of water
and returns to under the covers.

I can't seem to find a way to share it?

I Wake Close To Morning

Why do people keep asking to see
God’s identity papers
when the darkness opening into morning
is more than enough?
Certainly any god might turn away in disgust.
Think of Sheba approaching
the kingdom of Solomon,
Do you think she had to ask,
“Is this the place?”

Now I'm gonna look at the Google doodle and what in hell will I find there?

Thanks for the thanks and the fairy dust. "Glad" you liked them.
