On Blurring's hero the Pizza Delivery King:

"economists say Cain’s plan would be a tax hike for the lower middle class and a tax windfall for the wealthy.

If you have a family of four with an income of just under $50,000, they could end up paying more under the Cain plan. Currently, they are taxed around $3,850 in income tax. Under Cain’s plan, they would be taxed at 9 percent or pay $4,500.

That’s $650 more.

Although the family would save almost $4,000 in Social Security taxes, it would have to give up the child tax credit worth the same amount. Furthermore, it would pay an additional national sales tax of 9 percent on everything purchased, including groceries and clothes, which totals about $2,000.

That means under the Cain plan that family could end up paying $2,725 more.

“It’s going to raise the price of just about everything by about 9 percent,” said former George W. Bush economic policy adviser Bruce Bartlett. “We know from experience and analysis that that tends to hurt people with low incomes.”

Sure, Romney could beat Obama. Left is demoralized and turnout won't likely be as high as '08. Right are generally older and turnout is typically more consistent. Low info swing voters don't assess policy stances, they vote on likeability and pocketbook and are in a "throw the bums out" cycle.

But Romney is the ONLY one in the clown car over there that could beat him. Cain won't win the nomination, but his rise is a pretty clear indication that the GOP base is in an "anybody but Mittens" mood. If Perry wasn't a complete idiot and walking disaster, he would have WALKED away with it..and lost by double digits in the general. Even ol T-Paw said the other day he wished he hadn't quit the race. Cain is just he current anti-Romney flavor of the month, this month offered in Pepperoni with extra cheese.

"Cain is just he current anti-Romney flavor of the month..."

Same thing happened with McLame, remember? And eventually he got the nod, and then lost.

To counter your projection a bit, one could argue that Romney will leave the Repub electorate disenchanted, and the RR will stay home fearing the wrath of God if they vote for a Mormon. That's a pretty big hit for Republican voters, even with the anti-Obama fever. All things being equal, there are fewer registered Repub voters than Dems.

Occupy Wall Street: Communism’s Clueless Foot Soldiers

Norman Thomas, a U.S. Socialist Party candidate for president, once
famously said, “The American people will never knowingly adopt
Socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every
fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a
socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

And Norman Thomas never said any such thing. Surprise, surprise!

There was nothing sneaky or underhanded about Norman Thomas, corniss chopper. Unlike your Nazi-honoring hero Ronald Raygun who was either a lying sack of sh#t or a delusional fool.

Why didn't Corniss simply go to Snopes and verify FIRST?

Seriously, it take so little time to get the truth first, THEN draw your conclusions.

may 2010...ag holder claims he only learned about fast and furious "a few weeks ago"

MARCH 2010...barry claims he heard about f&f on the news and that ag holder claims he didn't know about the operation:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBIWSyoe6vA

1) how did barry know about a federal law enforcement program two months BEFORE his ag

2) how did barry know his ag didn't know about a program even before the ag didn't know he didn't know

let me be clear, barry's comments PROVE that he and his ag discussed the program at least to the extent that holder claimed he knew nothing about it; this conversation occurred two months BEFORE holder's testimony to congress where he claimed to have learned about the program only "a few weeks ago"

either holder's lying or he is incompetent or he has no control over his own department (i say all three)...whichever, it's time holder decided to "spend more time with the family"

smoking gun? does this video implicate barry in holder's lying/coverup?

I know Riley, that cracks me up, one minute the US department of education is a tower of communist insurrection, and the next China, with all its central planning, is a beacon of the free market.

I originally tried out these forums to see if I could get some intelligent discussion out of a conservative....I was genuinely interested to try and understand their point of view. Obviously, that was a complete waste of time, but the comic factor more than makes up.

this was always interesting to me...how the republicans who are generally anti-government can then bash someone based upon their religion (why dont they want government out of religion?) and yet, a place like Utah (predominantly Mormon and red) can vote for the same bashers who bash their religion.

very strange.

i suspect that Romney's religion may end up having a greater part in his eventual defeat. as others have said he is the most middle of the road republican which does not fly well with the far right.

I thought the Republican party approaching the 2012 election was all about "getting rid of the black-dude in the White House."

Duh! Why do they call it the: "White House????"

I see that the Wall Street Journal/Gallup poll says:

2 days ago – Herman Cain's current score of 30 is the highest Gallup has measured for any GOP presidential candidate to date, and much better than any ...

http://www.gallup.com/poll/election.aspx

What the hell are the bigots who moved from the Democratic Party to the Republican party "gonna do" about their new party supporting: another "black-dude in the White House"???

I'm just curious and amused?

barry's administration sent GRENADES to mexican cartels, too!

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/10/14/earlyshow/main20120395.shtml

think that's insane? well, it seems the cia/state dept grenade running was meant to arm the zetas while the doj/atf gun running was meant to arm the sinaloas!!!

gee, libs, how do you think the "latin street" will react to a "cowboy president" giving weapons to criminals later used to murder civilians and law enforcement officers (and elected officials)?

tell me, allowing law-abiding american citizens to own guns is dangerous, but giving guns to criminal cartels in a neighboring country is...what exactly?

well, i guess i shouldn't be surprised; after all, you seem to defend every other cop killer

Well, today's Republican Party is just full of similar contradictions and hypocrisy- that's just one example.

Jennie once posted some interesting history on Utah politics- the gist was that Utah has only been a red state in recent history- not too long ago, it was a longstanding Democratic state. Can't remember the exact reasons why it flipped, but it was interesting.

The most prominent Republican in the Obama administration is accusing GOP House members of blocking efforts to resolve the nation's problems, partly because they don't want the president to be successful.

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood was asked at a transportation conference Friday why it was so difficult to get big infrastructure projects built right now.

He responded that "some people don't want Obama to be successful."

He said "a big percentage of the Republicans that were elected this time came here to do zero, and that's what they've done." LaHood says those lawmakers have obstructed other people who want to get things done.

LaHood was a Republican congressman from Illinois and worked for House Republican leader Bob Michel years before joining the Obama administration.

Is Ray LaHood the father figure Obama has been searching for? Which of
the others in the presidents inner clique could be one?

Shrink: Obama Suffers 'Father Hunger'
The abandonment by his father when he was an infant
and by his stepfather at age 10 has left President Obama
with a "father hunger" that influences everything from why he
distances himself from pushy supporters, to his strong desire to
compromise and bring people together, to his aggressive campaign
to kill Osama bin Laden, says a psychoanalytic book out next week.
In Obama on the Couch, George Washington University professor
Justin Frank also reveals that Obama has spent much of his life seeking out
father figures, but most, like Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Vice President
Biden, have disappointed him. "Obama searched for a father, for someone to
relate to who could help him—a strong man who knew what to do,"
Frank writes.

Speaking of presidents and their fathers, the relationship between Bush senior and Bush junior bears examining. There are reports that the former at times cried due to the latter's incompetence, while junior naturally was doing his clumsy 'best' to outdo his father.
