Flip Flip, we don't care 'bout numbers with decimals & fractions much.

Numbers packed with good smoke, that's another thing.

Something Long Ago posted recently about Pratt...humility speaks for itself.

It's not my doing, that's for sure. I've had much help.

KD Laing - Tears of Love's Recall

Tears of Love's Recall

Thing of might and dread
Stays the savior and poison to all
Of heart and head

Love
Force of death and birth
Still lies naked when next to the truth
So spins the earth

The tears of love's recall
Like blood to chocolate fall

And love
The common salt of thirst
Runs like water that cuts through the lives
Of blessed and cursed

The tears of love's recall
Like blood to chocolate fall

Tears of love's recall
Like blood of chocolate fall

I am absolutely slammed. Several hours ago I was very concerned for my health. This began soon after I completed my last post here at 1:04 pm.

Making the story short, I went to bed ultra-early at about 2:00 pm because under the covers things don't feel the same and sleep, when it came "in bulk", making up for all my cat naps and short sleeps which are not very restorative, was deep.

Hours later I awoke, seeing the light of twilight, but mistaking it in my fuddled state of wakening for the light of pre-dawn.

Coming back into the room after making a visit to the john, and thinking of oatmeal for breakfast, I put on a kettle to brew coffee and sat here listening to the Ingenue CD by KD, typing the lyrics and posting a morning greeting.

Ha ha ha joke's on me.

Yesterday, well, today, actually...but this afternoon I awoke from a cat nap and began experiencing terribly and horribly and helplessly from cramps in my abdomen, reaching from the ribcage to the hernia.

Nothing I did, which wasn't much, brought it to an end. I sat cursing the Almighty and wailing to his son and finally put on clothes and grabbed a book, called 911 on the cell as I descended the elevator to the lobby where I told the person on the other end what was going on and I was told to wait, they'd be there shortly. Ten minutes later, I'm still waiting, the clenched abs were somewhat relieved by sitting curled over on the bench in the lobby, so TRIED standing, and I could do so without much greater pain, which meant it was subsiding, so I re-called 911 and got the ambulance cancelled.

Then, oh so slowly, I made my way over to the cafe and had a glass of milk and sat at the lunch counter with the warming rays of the sun falling on my back through the open door. It was a peaceful feeling, one I'd like to carry with me always, so I wrote a poem on it then and there with a borrowed pen on my napkin while munching on a patty melt.

The poem's not that good. Not as good as the patty melt, I mean. But one of the lines is that I'd rather die at the lunch counter with a milk mustache than in some hospital bed.

I made my way back upstairs and went immediately back to bed, wakening just an hour ago.

I see I'm missing Jeopardy! but that is fine. I believe I'll have some of that coffee I just made.

And it is good to find out what happened regarding the deletions, drljefe.

A word ABOUT our sponsor, CHILO'S CHILI. More specifically, about John, whose handle is pocoloco1.

pocoloco1 is the man who created the enterprise.
John and I met at Facelift through that fine Eastside bent gent Fish Finder.
I received in the mail a case of his product, the lesser of two weevils, you might say, because he'd given me the option of hot or less hot, and I'm of a conservative nature, salsa-wise, having learned from my late mother-in-law and her mom something of the nature of chilis.

I don't care if you like hot or not, it's better to approach their consumption with a fair idea of the potential cost to the system. So I choose the milder of the two.

John himself is one of the really mellow people you'll encounter at Facelift. Thank you for your kindness, pocoloco1. I'm doing my best to show my gratefulness.

I'm pleased that you have elected to post and thereby becoming one of Our Gang. And CC is one of the best in that cool retro style, right up there with, but not quite so dynamic as The Hot Licks.

My current intent is to go give blood in the morning. I will demand to see a doc then and there and gird my loins for whatever medical odyssey the medicos decide is best for me.

Several trips to Fresno VA shall follow. Examination by specialist. ECG, X-Rays, other diagnostic procedures as needed, dental check-up, more blood tests, etc.

I get these cramps from time to time, and I think it may have something to do with the heart surgery, a possibility I don't want to think much about.

I fervently thank the fates for not having to pay a huge deductible and worry about the nefarious practices of insurance companies like my pal Cosmic the Long-Suffering.

Knee surgery? After this.

I just removed that post as being personal, and emailed you instead, yet you kindly responded. Just good to know you are looking after yourself and getting the abdominal cramps checked out. Good for you.

As a responsible brother should, I called lennypenny just now to apprise her of my latest ailment. She'd been watching an old movie, just like our mom liked to do. This is the movie.

Fiona, Evelyn and Susanna are sisters. Their mother dies on the Lusitania, their father is killed in France, they must manage their Fifth Avenue mansion by themselves. Fiona marries Charles Barclay in order to get an inheritance and he begins a campaign to obtain the mansion to level it for real estate development. She vows that this will never happen. Hence the court shenanigans.

Can't Scrape a Living off this Shoe
Or
Motel Maid's gotten into Your Head again, Dude

There was no ineffable emptiness
In the man's life
Only the missed opportunities for
True emptiness on the grand scale
The cold never would've beens or
The missed might've once beens
There were also the might've been twice beens
That never meant anything to him

He was only a heartache away
Walking under a cloud that day
Where all the unsung zeros
Were getting in their own way
Making taco meat from rabbits feet
And selling them for the right to say
"I'm cheesy
Cheesy like a Sunday morning"

Gone glassy eyed
The man said
"What's that on your face?
And spoke conspiratorially of nonsense
I chose to make him invisible
Invisible in his ignorance
For his votes didn't count, you see
Not for anything in California

"So what?" the man said
Red eyed with his last called offered
In the soulless house where apparitions
Wafted with him room to room
The silent ex-wife and angry in laws
Exited for the six thousandth time
Talk radio volume blaring nonstop like
The hauntings he brought upon himself

She did care
Not for his sake
But for her own sake
And the kid who never knew his dad
But she made it work
While some dick in a red tie
Three thousand miles away
Played fast and loose with their freedom

Totaling the meaninglfulness of
What was remarkable
They worked and slaved a lifetime
But no one wanted them here
But for the fruits of their labors
Maybe the cut lawns and shopping malls
Would speak a testament to the immigrants plight
But they did not

Land of the Free Woman

She's serving diners their breakfast and lunch
But she's smart and she's nice and this ain't just a hunch.
She should be running the country not some old curmudgeon.
I mean what I said and by God I'm not budgin'.

She can add up tickets in a flash in her head.
I asked how she does it and then she said:
"When I was a nina we were two to a bed,
There was no papel, there was only my head."

She's smart and has kids and it's easy to tell
That they have a mom who's brought them up well.
It's immigrant mothers, not political dames,
Who've made this a great place (without naming games).
