Scott is like that, Andy. His character totally belies his avatar.

Sorry about Tony. Sorry, nita. Condolences.

I hadn't realized the time element involved in coming to this mile marker.

If it's any kind of a record, you know you guys contributed.

If the treatment for the screenplay gets a green light, and then if the screenplay gets taken on for a pitch to an actual Producer or Assistant to a Producer, and it's in the budget, you'll be given credits.

"Just anyone" won't do for the actual roles of Andy and nita. I would think on this some before any suggestions emanate from this quarter. I might call LostInShanghai for input. And my acupuncturist in Berkeley. My inclination is to go with Gypsy for Gypsy, for there's no sensed not using her fame. If she's done with shooting glamorous and exotic things in Corsica by then, of course. Flip Flop could double as himself and as Big Rock Candy, the Mountain, a pro wrestler turned bull rider and Toronado racing, once known for his Burial Move, in which it's nearly impossible to see the opponent, he has him wrapped up so skillfully. When a bull fell on his legs, both knees went, and they cut the legs off there, so all he could manage was sitting in a driver's seat. His dad left him his old '58 Merc Monterey and he traded that in for a front-wheel drive, the Toranado in light pearl and white. Wilt Chamberlain is a natural for zBrown, but he daid. T Hocking = Sting. T Hocking as a young climber = Vitaliy M., who will likely be known as Vitaliy in the near future, just like Manolo.
It's mellower here in this muni parking structure than in the one across the street. Especially on the weekends when nothing's happening like bike races or downtown events. I did not see one single car on the upper level, parked or coming and going. The city parks a good-sized muni vehicle fleet up here behind locked gates. The view is pretty decent. I had to take the stairs up from the ground level because the elevators are locked down and I have this stiff knee. I felt like an old man hiking up so I took it easy and appreciated the odd perspectives of things I've been shooting for years.

I don't know about Daisy the Dawg, but I know HAL the computer from 2001: A Space Odyssey. And I know the reasons why he sang Daisy, Daisy, seeking an answer. It involves a blues bar on Earth (in Silly Valley, of course, where else? China?) that burned and HAL lost the only gal, Daisy, a vacuum cleaner, in The Flames. The song that was playing at the time was Lucille, BB King's masterpiece, the original version. He had a droid's "body" at the time, with a very clever set of facial expressions just like Brad Pitt's complete with Pitt's vocal patterns in a range of different languages (the German accent used by Brad in Ten Years in Tibet and the Irish accent he affected in The Devil's Own.) Daisy was a simple country gal, from Eureka, CA., but her bag was new and she sucked HAL right in with a voice patterned after Sukey Tawdry. One rendition of CMac the Knife and HAL was enthralled. They got drunk and went out to work an OW jam on the building across the street during a set break and the next thing you know, the bar's on fire. Daisy ran back in to save her bag, back in the manager's office where the band stashed their gear at night. That was the last HAL or anyone saw of poor Daisy. So that's the tale.

HAL was originally a Tweet sent from POTUS' phone to the effect that he was using his instrumentalities to raise the number of characters allowable in a Tweet to 200 from 140. HAL is based on a real person, or as real as a computer gets.

I was told this story by a droid I met in Camp 4 named Watson. He claimed to be a big time Jeopardy! champion, but no one ever heard of him that I knew. He just showed up one day in a shiny new Mercedes van. And he claimed to have known Millis, but didn't even know his first name was Dillis, so you may choose to believe the tale of Daisy or not, bearing this in mind.

I respect my readers' judgement, except in Gnome's case. [Click to View YouTube Video]For Mr. Langley.

"I know you see me
Now here's a surprise
I know that you can
Because there's magic in my eyes"

"Who's he talkin' to?"
"That weird old homeless guy with the camera?"
"At least he's not wanderin' around lookin' for Pokemons."
"He sure is pokin' along."
"He told me he's always slow but his shutter speed's amazin'."

In a world turned upside down sometimes we need a quiet place like the Flames to take some peaceful refuge. At least long enough to recharge for battle.

As Though the World Were Sleeping

A refrigerator whines and lays down a constant tenor
Hum
A dog whimpers in his sleep
While somewhere in America a hitchhiker sticks out his
Thumb

The heat pump roars to life again
And whoosh a world once silent fills
With light
Of throbbing audio pulsations
To make the cold of darkness full and
Bright

In distance are the train tracks
Rumbling
As I hear the world turn and feel it
Tumbling

The low pitched hum of something droning
Distant and oblique
To concurrent high pitched trilling crickets
Makes a stereophonic night
Complete

The low grinding sound of planetary
Vibration
It feels just right
This constant Rotation
And though I cannot sleep
It feels right
The whispering world is replete
Tonight

One half of the globetrotters known as Heidi and Fritz.
Both are amateur shutterbugs from Choss Creek.
That's in Idaho.
This is Heidi's most recent and decent.
Credit's given to Fritz because he posted it.
But it's a selfie, and a masterful one.
Let's have at least a polite golf clap for
Dorita the Sweet o' Choss Creek.Famous world-traveling Heidi.

She may look harmless, but she's the Scourge of the Range.

Celebrating with World Wildlife
(spoofery, satire, irony)

Put however much komodo meat into a skillet. Brown it in a bit of olive oil, garnish heavily with fajita seasoning. Heavier the better, IMO. Then add when browned a helping of chopped bells and yellow and/or red peppers followed by red onions, chopped coarsely. Let it go for a time, stirring it to keep it from charring. Use a medium heat. Take a half an apple and cube it. Put it in a cup and add Tajin powder, shake to coat, then clear a space in the skillet in the center, add a touch more olive oil and let them sizzle, turning the cubes to brown on all sides. Mix it all up together and let it sit till you have your tomatoes chopped and your tortillas warmed. Then put a portion on the tortilla and eatafajita, a perfectaco.
I gotta find a way to make komodo bacon without getting the Fire Dept. involved. Maybe a nice safe dehydrator instead? But I might just get Jerked Komodo, a Locker favorite, sure, but I'm looking for bacon, not jerky, boys.
IF you have no Chilo's Chili, tough beans. Order some online.

Here's a link that offers other seasoning options for Taco Lovers or those who appreciate fine chili products.

Bushman,
I'm a miserable churl
Thank you for this pearl
But it sat waiting
Anticipating...
What, exactly, I don't care.
Steinbeck could explain it, maybe.

Ten Thousand Flaming Yaks

Ten thousand maniacs posted all their deepest thoughts
Breaking through the silent screams imprisoned by robots

The world as told by climbers and old climbers on the blink
With photos, music, stories, and poems, and things that make you think

Our life is like a Ferris wheel that just keeps going 'round
Catapulted into space our feet don't touch the ground

Until our mind is motionless the ride is never done
This climb that we have started we all follow past the setting sun

The world is seen much differently through a climber's eyes
As long as there are mountains tall the spirit in us flies

Though some of us can't climb like we always loved to do
The climbing spirit carries forth in everything we do

These words are but a tribute to the members of this tribe
Exclusive to the Flames thread and intrinsic to this scribe

Ten thousand posts are memorable and noteworthy as a score
I hope our humble host presides o'er tens of thousands more

So I leave it to the Man and the Mouse as he is known
To guide along the pages of this blog to the unknown

So for now I shall withdraw to my hovel in the west
Allowing winds to blow this palaver wherever it is best

Retreating with this allegory to stairways in the sky
Imaginary windmills and my robot friend Ay Aye

But today was Manic Monday...I made two circuits again, and met another photographer up on the roof of the parking structures.
