Where were you in '62?
I was in the first year of high school
Bob Dylan was in his first year at Gerde's (New York City)

Fast forward two years to 1964, I was in the last year of high school (first date with Michele)
Bob Dylan was in Toronto (if you're the right age and you've got 1/2 hour to spare)
Surrealistic Pillow - I dreamed I was walking into World War III

Richie Havens - License to Kill
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JltNLkh03ME
First saw Richie in Berkeley July/1967, last saw Richie a couple years later in Berkeley.
The Berkeley Folk Festival - 1967 (they don't write 'em like that anymore)
Dylan had already gone electric, went on a world tour, crashed, disappeared, then six months after this - John Wesley Harding
The cover photograph of John Wesley Harding shows a squinting Dylan flanked by brothers Luxman and Purna Das, two Bengali Bauls, South Asian musicians brought to Woodstock by Dylan's manager, Albert Grossman. Behind Dylan is Charlie Joy, a local stonemason and carpenter ...
What was Jesus occupation? A local stonemonster?

zBrown, nobody sings Dylan better than Richie Havens. Nobody. That man has more soul than any 20 people put together.
Although Leonid Kogan comes pretty damn close with this transcription for violin of Khachaturian's Adagio from Gayneh.
