I wasn't really commenting on the details of the defunct out the gate Kyoto protocols.
I'm more commenting on the general issue that society will not likely do much to avert the problems of AGW until it gets worse and perhaps unfixable. Maybe it's already unfixable. But I hope it will still be possible to make that bad situation better by then.

Amen. All hail The Chief.
By the way Mchale, it's record cold in Alaska currently and a record breaking blizzard is blowing in. This seems to be a recurring theme in provinces around the world- pacific northwest, upper midwest, France, India....... There's a cold wind a blowin hotheads.

No global warming will not annihilate mankind.
Not even a M.A.D. type Nuclear WW3 would do that.
But it has begun to cause millions of deaths and terrible and avoidable suffering.

Yet you guys just exited one of the warmest falls in Alaskan history.
Volatile weather to say the least. As predicted decades ago.
It's a prediction easy to make when considering the likely physics of an atmosphere containing more energy.
------ OH and like I said earlier.. If it's snowing hard in Alaska it sure as hell ain't cold.
EDIT
Hmm yep..Just checked.. not cold at the moment.. 20degF and climbing as snowstorm aproaches. TO be 29F at midnight in Anchorage.

We've had five severe NH winters in a row Derek, this year could well make six. The pause the hotheads are furiously backpedaling to deny has actually been a slight decrease, soon to steepen downwards. The total global ice mass is stable or even increasing. Snowfalls increasing, especially in late winter/spring, enhancing duration of reflectivity and delaying melt slightly. We had two years back to back 2008/2009 with more than 250 days of a spotless sun- the start of a deep solar minimum forecast to last several schwab cycles. Sure we've had a few extremes in the last few years ( both ways), but this is common in a phase change of climate. Global warming is over for the time being ,although the socialists are desperate to institute their social engineering projects before it is obvious to even the most dim witted. You seem like a rationalist, get past the trendy hype and you'll see there is little to nothing behind the alarmist science.
Yes warming as the storm moves in, but the last few days have been very cold for this time of year. Four degrees for a max temp yesterday- a new record for the date.
EDit again: be careful what you hope for Derek- cold climates are associated with far more human misery and death than warm climates. Just look back into history.

Rick,I will not deny,or backpedal anything.
I wrote a senior paper when I was in school,on this very topic.
That was 1979.Everything said then has come to be.
And you guys should smoke some weed,It may make you chill to the level you think it is.

Glacial and Sea Ice reduction due to increasing global temperature rise .
Both greenhouse gas and solar irregularities were discussed.
These predictions were common among many publications of the time.
Although, Consensus, was not where it is today.
The information I researched and predictions included in them are what I allude to.
Go ahead shoot them down.

Global seaice area is the same size as it was 34 years ago.
I see that you still don't understands how to draw conclusions from data. You could try to read about trends, mean and variance.

Okay, smart guy. What's the significance of global seaice area being the same (today) as it was 34 years ago? Enlighten us.
What you wrote above is just a dishonest lie. Can you clarify what you try to say and back it up with some data?
The problem is that I cant manage to interpret the global sea ice data in any meaningful way such that the level today is the same as the level were 34 years ago.
