And no denier lights up, Chief?

You keep pushing the stupid envelope.

I love how you defend the group that helped kill your relatives.

Oh, the irony.

Incessantly calling people "dishonest" and "liars" without knowing what you're talking about is unimpressive. I was more impressed by this novel hypothesis from Sketch, which was supposed to show somebody's dishonesty about Antarctica, or something. Perhaps he can take a break from name-calling to explain his thought process further.

Let's see. Warming (from a relatively cool base) causes increased plant growth, which results in more CO2 production. Hmm.

Complementing last week's discussion of millennial-scale ice sheet retreat on Baffin Island, we have new studies of decadal-scale permafrost erosion in eastern Siberia. Studying field data and aerial photographs, researchers find that coastal permafrost is thawing, exposed and eroded at an accelerating rate. Over the past 40 years this rate averaged 2 meters per year, up to 20 meters per year in some places. Its pace nearly doubled over the past decade. Drivers are warming Arctic air temperatures and a lengthening of the open-water season, leading to more shoreline erosion.

Press release from the Alfred Wegener Institute is here.

Two complete articles, not paywalled, are available as pdf files here and here.

Because these studies focus on the past half-century, when Arctic warming is too well established to deny, I don't expect the new work will generate the flurry of blog attacks we saw against the longer-term Canadian research. Nevertheless it's one more piece in the mosaic being assembled about Arctic change. The potential feedbacks from permafrost thawing to increased greenhouse emissions (methane, particularly) have been a focus of other research.

Sketch do you try to misdirect from the fact that you wrote the following?

Let's see. Warming (from a relatively cool base) causes increased plant growth, which results in more CO2 production. Hmm.

Is that your understanding of the mechanism involved in the increase of CO2 due to an increase in temperature?

"that's a well-known graph showing temperature anomalies after adjustment for ENSO, solar and volcanic effects"
Too bad he didn't clarify that, eh? Are you familiar with the concept of "Lies Bu Omission?

He could of course have been clearer but it is still a caption on the figure that says "Average of 5 adjusted data sets".

Yeah, unfortunately this is just one hella lopsided discussion where one side follows established methods and the other uses volume knobs and this new 'blog' shits for info. I ha ve learned quite a bit from this thread and have enjoyed it for that.

I see what I see. Not for want of nail but to further my understanding. What I want is a cheeseburger, nothing else. That way I can try to see as clear as I can understand. I know my limts.

“There is a lot of noise in the climate system and it is quite possible that the noise can mask the effects of man-made carbon dioxide for a period of time. However if the slope is zero for 17 years, then we cannot blame noise any more but we have to face the facts that we humans do not affect the climate to any great extent.”
Benjamin Santer et al.

Santer did not say that quote, gullible Chief has fallen for another hoax.

That was from Dr. Robert G. Brown, Physics Department of Duke University

Really? So your favorite blog can't even quote the right author for his blog posts?

Chief's trendline shows zero warming for 17 years.

Hmm.

Hmm, and the 6 other temperature records show a warming trend over the same time period. Cheery picking the data set to be able to make an invalid argument?
