WPLJ is a radio station in NY. Formerly broadcasting using other call signs in the 50's. As an Am/FM radio station in NY broadcast many interviews and hours of music by Cream, Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane. Also they broadcast interviews with icons of that era like Lennon, Andy Warhol,Bill Graham etc. You can find some of the interviews on youtube.
Elton John's 17-11-70 album was a recording of a live broadcast from their studio. They also broadcast live the last performances at the closing of the Fillmore East.
The station changed it's call sign to WPLJ as a tribute to Zappa's WPLJ.
