The great United States subcontracts satellite launches to the Russian Federation. Their missle payload launching system is superior to ours.
Uh-huh, and our military technology is second to none. How will that help us if the United States goes the way of the Soviet Union in 10 years?

If? If???? Haven't you been reading the papers. We're already there, man. It's like an instant replay, too much military spending...Afghanistan... not taking care of our own people. Sheesh.

Problem is after 3 years of constant negative propaganda you have some soft skulled democrats believing it too.
There are hard skulled ones also?

Well, since Perry went down in flames, it seems clear the GOP is still searching for the right 'fit'. Sure, you guys will vote for most any of the current crop if they get the nod, but none of them are giving you wood.
If not Christie, then who?
Palin?
Many recent polls show that while ideologic alignment with a candidate does matter, above this is the simple reality of whether they can beat Obama or not. Yes, this same phenom occurred in '08, but it's still kinda pathetic, donchathink?

Again, There is no way on earth that the DOE budget (even including nuclear weapons and cleanup) since 1977 (when it was created) approaches a trillion dollars. I appreciate Crack addict using reason and numbers but I'm calling him out on this one
Most of that money would be spent anyway with no DOE, by the DOD for example.
Crack, do you acknowledge Peak Oil and our coming energy crisis?
Peace

Societies that vilify success and wealth lose it, and everyone is poorer for it.

Who would have predicted this outcome at the time the wall came down?
Who knows what would be the outcome, if, as you suggest, Alaska and Texas are led by their governors to leave the Union....since the Republicans are so patriotic.
The future is not always an easy thing to see.

OK, OK, we'll settle this once and for all...
So the average of the Y axis is about 25 Billion, right?
This graph shows 32 years.
The gives us $800 Billion. You are right, less than a Trillion, but I think I said "nearly a Trillion"
As for Peak Oil, there are a couple theories out there, one that says Oil is not a fossil fuel at all, it is produced by a chemical reaction in the Earth. Sounds ludicrous, but the Fossil fuel theory does not explain how oil can be found hundreds of kilometers deep in a Craton. How did those Dinos get down there?
Not sure. But if or when we do run out of oil I have a hell of a lot more faith in private corporations coming up with solutions than Government entities. They can't even spend within their budget.

Yes this explains why a dollar is worth about 2 bits across the pond now
Sadly, it doesn't explain why the dollar lost half its value against the "socialist" euro over the past decade in the first place
Gee, I wonder how the Dollar could lose so much value...

Funny those "socialist" euro countries have flatter tax systems than we do. They don't vilify wealth as much as you think (except the French, they decapitate those MoFos!).

Oil is here to stay, unfortunately. The reason the Saudis do not raise prices too high is something called the "Fischer-Tropsch Process". This allows us to produce oil for about $50-$60 a barrel from Coal.
The Nazis invented it during WW2 during the Oil Embargo. What scares the Saudis is that the countries with the greatest energy needs have the most coal (China, U.S.). We have enough coal for 1,000 years of oil at our current usage.
The only drawback (besides pollution) is the infrastructure required to carry out the process, which is why the Saudis are nervous about high oil prices for too long.
