Obama has been a tremendous success

In what parallel universe? Certainly not this one.

and you must also remember that the Republicans filibustered every single bill, like treasonous traitors

Not all of them, remember the stimulus got through, and Health care. Both are disasters.

dept of energy to announce more guaranteed loans (guaranteed with OUR tax dollars)...the doe claims these loans will create 283 jobs for a modest 23 MILLION per job

yes, you read that right...23 MILLION per job by the doe's own estimates...i guess we should be happy they're not lying to us

China is a great success because of their free markets

I would characterize China as a success, but they are moving in the right direction and we are moving in the wrong direction. The numbers speak for themselves - 10 years of 10% growth vs. 10 years of near zero growth.

No answers to any of the questions on the quiz? It might help clarify where we are coming from (basic life philosophy) and thus where we might go on moving forward?

Here is your answer. the quiz is overly simplistic. It ignores too many very important signals and puts forth straw man arguments which only fools would answer.

Give it up Karl and Rox.

If the neocon republicans take office again, America will have another civil war.

I think of Lincoln and how he faced such bitterness after the Civil

Only this time the south/republicans still have all of their weapons and are still undermining the country. They still believe that the wealthy create jobs. That trickle down works, that you can have wars and not pay for them. They wont look at themselves.

DOE was created to make us more energy independent in the 70s because OPEC was cutting output. Back then we imported 30% of our energy. After spending $20 Billion per year, we now import 60% or our energy.

Isn't government great? The answer to all of our problems, eh Dr. F?

Do you even know what the hell you are saying?
China is a Communist county with slave labor!

Shockingly ill informed. For one thing China is not a county. As to the second claim, have you ever met from Shanghai? How many slaves did they own?

What a dope

I guess if I had boxed myself into a corner with weak arguments, ridiculous generalizations and flat out lies, had no real fact based arguments, I would simply resort to childish name calling also.

Is Tennesee still the site for the backup computer counts for Ohio?

Maybe they can engineer an actual emergency this time, to explain the need to shut down the official vote counting site and sending everybody home in favor of the hacked "middleman" computer site?

Then they can maybe explain the 130% voter turnout in certain Ohio districts?

Yeah, where's the outrage? How come those Diebold ATMs NEVER give me 130% of the money in my account?

China. over a billion people who can work for a tiny fraction of minimum wage here and you want to cite their government policies as the reason they are successful. The real reason is pretty obvious, super cheap labor from the plentiful poor plus undervalued currency creates a vast trade imbalance

Obama's socialist agenda has been blocked for the most part, we are so fortunate. Now if we could just get rid of him in entirety, 13 months.

Okay, for argument's sake let's say Obama loses in 2012, what's your alternative?

From 2001 to 2009 the Republicans and the right demonstrated that they are too incompetent to govern, getting the US involved in 2 intractable wars and on top of that wrecked the economy.

Since 2010 Republicans, the Tea Party and the rest of the right shown that they have not a clue.

The Republicans have talked about fiscal responsibility since forever, but especially since 2001, yet like irresponsible idiots, they increased spending while cutting revenues.

Pop quizz

1. People achieve prosperity because

a. They work hard and make wise choices
b. They exploit others and win off the backs of others
c. Mostly (a) - some (b)
d. They got all the “breaks” in life; everyone else got none.

Dumb question with many variables. How many children of Billionaire and Millionaires live below poverty? Some people are born with good looks or intelligence and some aren't. If you think hard work brings riches, tell it to the guy digging ditches all day. The richest group of non-famous people in the country do nothing physical and mostly move money from one place to another.

2. I did do not have what some others do because

a. Those suckers robbed me of it
b. I made some mistakes in life and also I got some bad breaks
c. A little (a) but mostly (b)
d. I have no f*#king idea - it must be random.

I did have those wall street robbers blatantly cheat me out of my life savings now that you mention it. The SEC assured me that the robber lost his license to sell stocks. That's comforting. If he took my wallet directly, he would have gone to jail.

Note the ungrammatical question.

3. People who have wealth and prosperity

a. Don’t deserve it because they never did anything good to earn it
b. Should spread it around to everyone because we should all be equal
c. Should keep some of it and give some of it to help others less well off
d. Are f*#king bastards who are the enemy.

Isn't that the same stupid question as #1. Good thing your prosperity doesn't depend on making any sense.

4. I can improve my lot in life by

a. Nothing. There is absolutely nothing I can ever do about it.
b. Taking what I shoulda had anyway
c. Seeing what I can change which might improve my lot.
d. Blaming the other guy - at least I will feel better if nothing else.

fattrad,

First, who the f*#k is Daphne? I've been more than respectful in our exchanges, are you really going to go down the ad hominem road?

Second, you rarely, if ever, mention defense spending. End Bush tax cuts, and cut defense spending by half (including leaving Iraq and Afghanistan) and no more fiscal problem.

Third, our deficit is a long term and not short term problem. Why so important right now? Cutting government jobs certainly won't help the economy. Companies are flush with cash, pay little in taxes and they still aren't hiring. Why? Excess capacity.

Last, when the economy picks back up and boomers die off, no more Medicare or Social Security problem. The number of workers (those paying into the system) and retirees will be back to a sustainable ratio.

Why do you honestly care about this or about Solyndra other than it's happening under Obama?

Seriously, where were your complaints when $12 billion in cash just up and disappeared in Iraq (that's billion with a B, like bookworm)? How about Halliburton way overcharging for services rendered in Iraq (on top of it being a conflict of interest to hire them)?

Out of curiosity, what are all you die-hard Dems - frothing at the mouth with vitriol for the GOP - going to do if the GOP wins in 2012. Have any of you given any thought to that scenario. One problem with the circle jerk ever ongoing on ST is you don't seem to ever give any thought to "what if...." Have any of you considered this possibility?

Is that a threat??
Coming after me with your Glock or S-W? Going to cut my Social Security? Going to shut down NPR?
And yes, I've considered the possibility and have a backup plan.

As far as I can tell by the mainstream media, the vitriol comes mostly from Tea Baggers and the arrogance comes from the Repub leadership: McConnell, Boehner and fatty's "pal" Cantor.
F*(k Obama and the country, F(*k the economists, they're all neo-Keynsian commies, we're right and compromise is out of the question.

TomC: don't try to confuse the right wing with facts and logic. Faith, greed and jingoism will trump you every time.

so LEB I've got a direct question for you. Why don't you ever debate my direct challenges to what you say?
I pose the same question to several other wing-nuts around here who I've challenged. Are your facts and logic so empty that all you can do is scream, insult and rant?

And for a news story that's NOT making the mainstream outlets:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/09/28/occupy-wall-street_n_985153.html
Even the New York Times hasn't mentioned it since Monday and that was an article about the law enforcement issues.

I don't think I understand the bitterness when YOU and you alone make the decisions in your particular life.

Try telling that to the guys who lost limbs in Vietnam.

You just don't get it. Sometimes you can make all the right decisions, but because so many people are making poor decisions, you get hosed.

You were blessed. Why not try to realize that, rather then bagging on those who weren't.

And I'm not talking about karl. I am talking about all the people who have been wrecked by the powers that be. Wars, wrecked economies, bean counter decisions such as not hardening the doors on jetliners 50 years ago when they first figured out that terrorist would one day use a jet to wreck something. Gee.. it would cost too much.. but now look at the cost. My friend Darren Bohan lost his life on 9/11. Should he have lost his life because he decided to become an accountant?

Do you understand any of this? Every decision we make collectively affects the collective. We decided to not pay for two wars and now we are paying for it by not being able to afford things like social security, or national healthcare.

Who do you think led the way to not paying for two wars? Do you understand the consequences of such decisions?
