The Beach Boys brought their reunion tour to Chula Vista Friday night.
I didn't go. My wife's student Ahmba (Mike Love's daughter) didn't come through with the tickets, but she did sing one song.

Mike Love was a George WTF Bush supporter. He and Chucky the Boot Norris showed up to stand behind him in his rolled-up shirt sleeves the summer when he contested the presidency with Clinton. My Beach Boy self kinda thought, yeah, that's the early sixties. Jingo rock.
Our class song in 1962 was Surfing USA. Jams, Madras shirts, corduroy pants, huaraches, St. Christopher medals, foot-prints and boogie boards at Lake Yosemite.
We all wanted to be like Mike (Wilson) and Jan and Dean.
Then this dude came to the rescue, eventually.

Right on skully.
Yeah, if I'm home on a Saturday night I make sure to flip on PBS for Austin City Limits.
I either get turned on to someone new or see a quality performance of someone I know, a win-win.
Last week was Gillian Welch, who happens to be playing here on Friday(my birthday!)
