Is the god of global warming dead or at least dying? Below are a couple of links to articles and viewpoints that are making there way through mainstream publications into the collective psyche. Enjoy!

I see that rick have read his favorite blogs and parroted the information he found.
I really cant understand how people that claim that most everyone else are brainwashed by a conspiracy don't see the irony that they get all they "know" from blogs with a clear agenda.

sheesh, when your born into this world, you get a ticket to the freak show,
when your born in America, you get a front row seat,
back to the topic>
"i look around, and i don't see a way out for this species,
to me, using technology to fix the mess made by technology is what we are planning to do. and it does not seem to fit for me,
i just see this thing as some of these problems that exist as not really having, certainly not easy solutions, and it's always a bandaid,
and it seems that a lot of the things we do with the best of intentions, and especially when we get to this field of engineering, and tampering with the physical world, they seem to create more problems than they fix,
i look at it and i think, wow! i hope i live long enough to watch it all collapse, just for the fun of it, but i'm really kind of glad that i'm closer to death than birth, because presumably, there could be some really ugly cataclysmic event,
i once said that if the world blows up, i hope it happens east of me, that way i can watch it on CNN before the prevailing winds bring it back around to me,"

You, Bruce, an unscrupulous ideologue? Don't you remember, that presented convincing evidence, you're ready to jump ship at a moments notice? You were here at the beginning, i'd wager you will still be here at the end, bobbing, weaving, and jabbing away with questions of motive and psychology designed to denigrate and marginalize. To bad you don't have a positive vision.
The problem with this little uptopian ideology that created CAGW as the primary vehicle of choice to propel it's cause is that it doesn't provide advancement at all but rather retreat and admission of defeat by the challenges of the frontiers that lie ahead. It's path can only lead to withering of the human spirit, stagnation, and self enslavement by surrender of all individual ambition to an all controlling, totalitarian, governance regime. In short anything but the Utopia. What humanity needs is a common vision that embraces the challenges of frontiers ahead and the will to stay the course. If people could unite behind this kind of philosophy, then the little problems of today, that many of you obsess about, would fade into insignificance. Is this a utopian vision unattainable in the real world of Chuffian Darwinism, probably, but it still is a whole lot more uplifting than rapping off in defeat.

It is possibly that what rick writes make sense to conspiracy theorist but to everyone else it seems to be just gibberish.
The possibility that the earth is warming due to human actions just don't seem to be a possibility in rick's world.

I'm fascinated by what occurred in the 1920s and 30s of Nazi Germany. How some folks obviously were able to see what was occurring yet huge percentages of the population justified and accepted the most horrific actions. A guy can see these same issues all through history when societies attempt to make difficult decisions or disseminate new realities.
Well said Riley
For me that is THE burning question from studying History.
This thread if nothing else is an interesting if slightly depressing case study of that phenomenon.

Regardless of what the denialists choose to ignore, the physical realities of AWG continue to march on...

Can't you read Mono? He refuted one claim of CAGW causation after another through finding local land use reasons.

Again, where did he say he was an AGW proponent? Where does he say AGW is a hoax?
He is skeptical of some of the current AGW impacts on wildlife vs dynamiting and railroads.
That's a true skeptic, unlike the deniers we have around here.

Sketch is solidly realist. The masses, those of them that pay attention, are turning solid realists in overwhelming numbers after years of hearing the wolves cry. Meanwhile, the doomists bitterly cling to their religion.

The "alarmists" act like it's the end on mankind... and they attack anyone who isn't on the same page. This thread is a prime example.
Who on this thread is an "alarmist" that believe that it is the end of mankind?
Most of this thread is actually about trying to discuss the science, is AGW true or not, and not about policy. The people that get attacked are attacked because the ignorance they show.

I thought Ed said before that we cannot individually conserve our way into salvation from the carbon demons? You also said we are near the physical limits of efficiency in our present energy production technology. I believe your only permitted route to the holy land was through behavioral modification by heavy carbon taxation and tilting at windmills.

Take the facelift this year~~ how much gas and oil was consumed by folks who shopped for supplies the drive all the way there. Then the bar b qs and the campfires ensue. While trash and debris was collected, there was an equal and opposite carbon thingy goin on eh?
no. not even close. You have no idea what you're talking about.

I haven't seen you at any of the 10 facelifts Ron. I will not waste a minute trying to explain anything to you. Except to reiterate- and I am absolutely certain on this- that you have no idea what you're are talking about.

"CAGW" is not the name of a scientific theory but rather an acronym popularized by denialists in the 4th stage of climate denial.
Since all 5 stages are on display in this thread, often flashing in sequence from the same individuals, now seems like a good time to review them. There are several versions of the 5 stages; I like the following summarized from Gary Kendall.
1) Climate change isn’t happening.
2) Climate change is happening, but it’s part of the Earth’s natural cycles
3) Climate change is happening, it may well be due to human activity, but it’s generally beneficial
4) Climate change is happening, it’s probably due to human activity, but it’s not going to be as bad as the computer models suggest
5) Climate change is happening, it is caused by human activity, it’s a really bad thing, but there’s very little we can do about it and there are lots of other bad things we should attack first
The common element, of course, is "Don't reduce fossil fuel use!"

Wyna, are you ignorant or just so blinded by the propaganda that you refuse to look at the truth? The U.S., one of the few western countries not to sign on to Kyota, has reduced it's carbon emissions more than any other country. This was largely accomplished by natural economic evolution from coal power generation to use of the plentiful stocks of cheap NG discovered and produced by technology breakthroughs by our petro industry. Look it up instead of clinging to doomist theory.
