I just wanted to send you a personal note and say heal up.

Also, I know of a guy, not really a friend but we have met a few times. He is a climber, and back country skier and more importantly one of the finest ortho guys on the west coast. He specializes in sports injuries and is located in Fresno.

His name is Dr. Eric Hanson. He is a good man and like I said, one of the finest ortho's around.

If you have a chance to interview Dr.'s for your surgery I highly recommend putting him on the list.

Anyway, take care and heal up. And, if I can ever do anything - please, never hesitate to ask.

Anyway, I don't know if it will do any good, but Dr. Hanson is on the board of a non profit I work with. I emailed the director of the group (an old friend and former owner of California Outfitters) asking him if there was anyway he could help facilitate an introduction between the two of you. (You and the Dr.) I really hope I wasn't out of line doing this. If so, I deeply apologize.

It may not go anywhere. In fact, it may go absolutely nowhere. Shane is in the backcountry this time of year working. I left him a message on his cell phone as well. I don't know what your time period is but I will let you know as soon as I hear something. It could literally be a week, it could even be more.

To be quite honest, Karl. This may end up being a big fat zero of an idea, I just thought that if there was even the "off hand chance" (pun totally intended) of getting you good help, it was worth a shot.

I am not medically trained but everything I hear is that Dr. Hanson does excellent work. And, the fact that he is someone that will appreciate all you do in climbing ... well, he just might take a second look. It is an idea. It is a hope. That is all.

I appreciate the thought> i wouldn't worry about it. I found a highly trained hand surgeon that would dave donated treatment to me but it gets too complicated when the surgery centers and other staff come in the picture. It will work out. Thanks for your efforts

What a dysfunctional bunch of nut jobs.

I also feel that there is a cultural gap which he cannot bridge and which causes him to come forth with some profoundly erroneous conclusions, specifically as they pertain to me. That fact, in combination with the escalating level of emotionality which I am noting, leads me to conclude that it is in the best that he and I not hold any further such discussions. At the very minimum, it wastes valuable time.
