Seems the real undercurrent here is Educational Skepticism. The disdain heaped on those f*#king whitecoated phds may just be a reaction to the ignorance displayed and being called out here. But it may speak to a 'whole 'nother level' of deeper psychological issues. I'm not a Psychiatrist (I'm a Climbatologist) and not qualified to comment. but, like the rest of you geniuses, I will...

I used to think that it was pointless to post on this thread, since The Chief considers it his territory and is a narcissistic, hateful being. Also, I'm not qualified to comment on science, since it isn't related to my profession directly.
Thankfully, I've realized it's much more fun to call out someone who questions science on hunches and the thought that scientists are wrong somehow. I mean, how stupid is that?
I'll venture a guess; pretty freaking stupid.
It makes me laugh to see him show his ignorance, but it makes me cringe to see him insult people the way he does.
But, he's just an uneducated attention whore, so what else would we expect?

Nice touch on the red herring angle. "Everybody knows increases in the CO2 concentration cause increases in the global mean temperature." Who cares that no one can produce previous examples?
It's a greenhouse gas. A greenhouse gas transmits visible light but absorbs infra-red radiation.
A greenhouse gas lets the sunlight in to warm the planet but prevent the planet's heat from escaping.
