Lindzen is a professor of meteorology. I also really doubt that he is allowed to teach any courses about today's climate science.

I will strongly object to any such "oaths of allegiance" as a condition of or factor in hiring faculty on our campus.

(No oath of allegiance was ever mentioned in the email that supposedly sparked Dr. Pielke's blog posting)

The message that I heard was that I had better not testify or else my career might suffer. I took this as a direct threat from an official with influence on my career at the university and I said so on the spot.

Did I actually feel threatened? Not really.

hahahaaaaa... this guy seems almost as confused as Chuffer, Dr. Al Siding, and sketch who post here.

they are SENIOR CHAIRS of their department.

hahahahaaaaa.... Senior Chairs... what a fuking idiot. My uncle was a CAPTAIN SERGENT in the Navy.

Love it when you post that pic of Hansen willing to take action, Chief.

Thanks very much.

Dr. Lindzen acknowledged that the 2009 paper contained "some stupid mistakes" in his handling of the satellite data. "It was just embarrassing," he said in the Times interview.

He is still a professor in meteorology even though he has published about the climate.

But all this is just ridiculous when you have no problem with ignoring every scientist with a PhD in climate science and employed at very important institutions in the world if they disagree with your view.

Do you really have no idea what a fuking idiot you are Chuffer? You think the points you raise are valid, but I assure you they are not.

Rick Poedke, you are the person that are making the authority argument on the last pages. I am not.

I want to say though that I would consider it an important difference to get a professorship or research position in a subject compared to having a PhD in a subject. My guess is that Lindzen has done some god work in atmosphere physics and that that was the reason that he got a professorship in meteorology at MIT.

How do you decide which elitists to believe, Chief?

Neither of the above is a "Climate Scientists" according to you PHOOOOOOOOOOOOOLE.

If you read what I write you would see that I have not written anything that would suggest that they are not climate scientist or that Lindzen cant be considered a climate scientist.

But I would say that you can say it pretty simple. Everyone that have a climate science position is of course a climate scientist even though they might have gotten a PhD in a completely different subject. People that publish in climate science journals can often be considered climate scientist but not always (I wouldn't call McKitric a climate scientist for example).

The area and time of appointment for a professorship matters because the University have at one time thought that the person have done good work in that area.

Why do you google like crazy to come up with peoples education?

So, as long as they have "DONE" good work in the past, they remain on staff and currently teaching.

Regardless their current work... JUNK SCIENCE according to most here.

Why don't you try to google "tenure" or at least read Ed's post? A university cant just fire professors.

It never ceases to amaze me... proposing regulation for anthropogenic carbon emissions, which clearly affects global climate, is seen as end-of-the-world doomsday alarmism.

All of the physics behind the models are clearly explained and multiple scenarios are covered... never once claiming to be able to predict the future with absolute certainty. When they are right, it is by chance... but when they are wrong, it is because the predictions were fabricated as part of a vast global conspiracy.
