Gnome, when you make those aside references to poetry I know, I smile and nod and remember those poems I learned as a child. Not to mention all the Kipling!
I hope you get to Egypt. The Sphinx is worth seeing. You will see the layering of the beds, and the nearby excavations to reveal the alabaster roads. The sands had covered, had buried so very much that it boggles the mind. At Luxor, there is a place where the door to the Mosque is now about 20 feet above excavation level, and there is probably more beneath the present level of excavation in some areas. Beautiful secrets of our Earth. We had the same types of complexes in North America, with Cahokia and other places, but not so well hidden as did the sands of Africa hide that desert land. Many were destroyed or abandoned early after whites came. But there is more being found, and who knows what secrets our Earth holds? It is easy to see how Egypt has inspired so much poetry, metaphor, simile, and allusion since Napoleon's time.
But this is one you do not quite mention, and the other you sidled up to but did not quite mention, was, I think, Ozymandias . It's worth a read again. By Shelly.
Anyway . . .
Kubla Khan
BY SAMUEL TAYLOR COLERIDGE
Or, a vision in a dream. A Fragment.
In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
A stately pleasure-dome decree:
Where Alph, the sacred river, ran
Through caverns measureless to man
Down to a sunless sea.
So twice five miles of fertile ground
With walls and towers were girdled round;
And there were gardens bright with sinuous rills,
Where blossomed many an incense-bearing tree;
And here were forests ancient as the hills,
Enfolding sunny spots of greenery.
But oh! that deep romantic chasm which slanted
Down the green hill athwart a cedarn cover!
A savage place! as holy and enchanted
As e’er beneath a waning moon was haunted
By woman wailing for her demon-lover!
And from this chasm, with ceaseless turmoil seething,
As if this earth in fast thick pants were breathing,
A mighty fountain momently was forced:
Amid whose swift half-intermitted burst
Huge fragments vaulted like rebounding hail,
Or chaffy grain beneath the thresher’s flail:
And mid these dancing rocks at once and ever
It flung up momently the sacred river.
Five miles meandering with a mazy motion
Through wood and dale the sacred river ran,
Then reached the caverns measureless to man,
And sank in tumult to a lifeless ocean;
And ’mid this tumult Kubla heard from far
Ancestral voices prophesying war!
The shadow of the dome of pleasure
Floated midway on the waves;
Where was heard the mingled measure
From the fountain and the caves.
It was a miracle of rare device,
A sunny pleasure-dome with caves of ice!
A damsel with a dulcimer
In a vision once I saw:
It was an Abyssinian maid
And on her dulcimer she played,
Singing of Mount Abora.
Could I revive within me
Her symphony and song,
To such a deep delight ’twould win me,
That with music loud and long,
I would build that dome in air,
That sunny dome! those caves of ice!
And all who heard should see them there,
And all should cry, Beware! Beware!
His flashing eyes, his floating hair!
Weave a circle round him thrice,
And close your eyes with holy dread
For he on honey-dew hath fed,
And drunk the milk of Paradise.
Thank you,
feralfae

We do this every day of our lives.
Welcome to the mousque.
Middle Eastern Cuisine Our Specialty
Menu Items
Remember, the Middle East is all a human wasteland, so don't expect much.
A desert means different things to different folks:
shelter
maybe some craggin' here and there
a riddle
fulfillment
moto-cross terrain
dessert (Almond Joy ice creammmmm)
a place where much irrigated farm land is on borrowed time
a place to trade in olives and olive oil, almonds and almond oil, paste, butter, and packaged almonds
a place of constant striving to survive in spite of odds that sometimes stretch the imagination of a Vegas bookie if you believe Big Farming
a place to avoid
part of Middle Earth, so it's no big deal
see Farouk, he's got friends in some airline ticket office
enjoy your stay in the wasteland, Gnome
or you could just come over here to the left coast and visit this desert and do these climbs (and others)
We're talikin' holy, too. Saint Galen, as you can see, led these two.

Thank you FF!
I am a big sissy and loved to read poetry and dream in color of the worlds inspiring places and the words that described them.
Now bear with me ladies and gents, I am a old school boy so the misogyny in this just is. Sorry, and as the dad of a sweet little girl you can bet there are things in my past that I regret. Who knew ? Till one has lived - thirteen year old girl - you really can not understand the female creature, ( ouch, I know ,mfm, I know)
So that being said
The wife and I met climbing. She was a person who kept calling for a climbing lesson, while I was off climbing . so when I returned 'home, a tent in the Gunks , she was the third person I called, the last added to a group of three that would get to top rope in central Nj.
I did this to weed out Femes of both sexes, I was not in the business of HTFU
Harden the ef' up on your own time then call me back.
This was also a good place to teach climbing foundations. The basics of the game are best taught in a low stress place that one has all to one self, with out the distractions of others and intimidating ropes shooting up into the vast cliff.
Three women , merde, I miss getting paid for sitting on a rock sharing the thing I am most passionate about with a riveted , mildly terrified, group of girls.
That was the way before gyms, you need some spunk as a women to go to a store, ask and then follow through; book a date pay and show up.
I was always curious as to why some one wanted to climb, was it a guy they were after or was it for themselves and a goal to achieve a more meaningful life.
As often it was one and not the other, I would try to instill a strong self-reliant, understanding that what ever the reason, climbing was for keeps and could be many things to many people,no gyms, no sheepel in the woods,.- the good old days.
@$,;:¿) swear words are all I can do, I left the post to look up Coquettish both the spelling and meaning
Then could not get the tablet to return to my open post and so I lost the bit that was fun and a bit risqué.
Now I have to do the morning family thing and so for now bye. . . .
The day I met my wife she would have been the least likely of the three to catch the bug
In my opinion. The other to women, were more physically fit and smaller, in all less curvey.
Then after ground school, the climbing began and all the noob stuff that one goes through went on. As I recall it, it was a good day, the women got along in a competitive, but friendly way. They exchanged numbers talked about taking me out for dinner , my wife put in that a tip and a shower were a better choice for her, and bugged off.
That was fine and the three ladies became pals and made bookings to climb, a month in advance. Yeah! Structure!
It turns out my wife, was 'ringer', not a natural at climbing, but tough as nails. She had hiked through the night in the rain and survived that ordeal stoked to learn how to climb.
She had badgered a climbing store that carried my information for as to who were the guides. The owners, also clients of mine, told her that of the six guides that they had gone with I was the one they had chosen to climb with. My wife then called three times in six weeks and had waited to go out and learn from me, not just get taken climbing but learn the ropes, out side in the dirt(and glass and graffiti, of NJ) before any trips to the better zones all of my climbers knew the basics and could tie in and anchor off understanding the implications of not doing it right every time.
Ho my g-d I lost a great deal ! Damn,

Here's a photo of Hambone from his heyday. Strongest man I ever bumped into on a basketball court (Pauly Pavillion) and not real happy after the way he got treated in the NBA.
It went like this, "You're pretty thick, you take Hambone".
This photo does not show how strong he actually became (maybe out of compensation).
Bringing in the heavyweights for Ruby too. Heading out for a "consult' with the nephrological expert from UC Davis out at UCSD. How do they do that?

Checkin' up on your baby, eh? Can't be much fun.
Probably more like a flail striking your soul.
Sorry for your pain.
There are worse fates than what you and she are facing.
Is Ruby fond of boiled hambone/been to Memphis/listened to Taj Mahal much?
Are you in the penalty? How is Hambone's free throw percentage?
I'm just wonderin'. It don't really mean sh#t.
The Reapers are surely looking forward to their win, folks.
High-fivin' over on their bench. Cruel bastions.
Especially with the odds stacked in their favor to begin with.

I can't complain, but sometimes I still do. Life's been good to me so far.
Ruby never complains.
It's not like Hambone is a good friend or anything, just a guy from San Diego, who made it to the big time and who I played basketball with a long time ago.
This should have been edited down.

^Tried to edit that one on the firesale computer I picked up a whle back. Post a Reply Box wouldn't let me type in it. Then I get the ST is not responding message.
Is it trying to tell me something? Time to shut up?
I'm no stranger to pulling the plug (or at least telling someone else to), having sent both my mom and my brother on their final journeys. However, Ruby, is a differnet (and long) story. I don't think, as The Chamber Bros didn't say once: Ruby's has.

I need a moment to pull together my thoughts on the death of a quite hardcore super safe, but dead from a Gunks third class -ing failure? It is hard to get a handle on,
The time of the fall was called at 8:20pm, so if the sun had been for a bit
The temperature change causes the glassy Gunks Quartzite To 'sweat', condensation builds up and the rock forms drops that grease holds .
I flew off a bolder problem as a result of this but it was in the end of July which describes the temperatures here now.
All the promise that was in the story of Andrew Barnes. This is just a gut wrenching loss he was married with a young daughter who he called every night from the prow . . .
Can't throw in the link now, .
Actually I'm kinda gutted like a fish , he is next I am sure. Superma here I come.

Farkou's a thorough-going puke and knows it so he plucks the hems of our garms with vile fingers that have been who knows where to seek our attention.
He's still in his nappies, he's not a real man, though he may be a competent (read not dead yet) climber.
We always have fleas. We always have tics. One way to deal is to ignore, another is to eradicate.
People who are real people will know what he means and shun him.
He's ignoble. He's pariah. I've never spoken a word to him and I'm already a 'tard?'
Unless they post on the thread, they are simply lurkers and don't mean sh#t.
I recall that little flare-up of bile and anger at eKat's judgment of our content as 'drivel.' At least she had the Old Dad Balls to come out and say it here and own her statement.
So I respect her and pay attention to most of her posts in deference to that.
This guy calling himself Farouk, who is a rank coward, earns the White Feather from me.
Phuque Pharook. Nawmean?
Poor Farouk, why so surly?

Mountain nudes: Briton's father 'relieved and grateful'
12 June 2015 Last updated at 15:22 BST
The father of a British woman jailed and fined for committing a public disturbance has said he is "relieved" and "grateful" to the Malaysian authorities for the sentence.
Timothy Hawkin's 24-year-old daughter, Eleanor Hawkins, was one of 10 tourists who stripped and posed for photos atop the sacred Mount Kinabalu.
She admitted a charge of "committing an obscene act in public" on Friday and was sentenced to three days in jail and fined almost £900.
Her sentence was back-dated to reflect time already served, but it is unclear when she will return to the UK.
OK, it's a rerun. .... It's good though.

This is not Jimmie Kimmel, nor Walter Cronkite reporting.
Chula Vista
Chula Vista is a f*#king bomb-ass city south of san diego. Everyone in north county says its hella ghetto but the truth is its not that bad. I'ts safe to say that WEST chula (west of the 805) is the 4th most ghetto place in SD county (1st. Southeast, 2nd. National City, 3rd. San Ysidro). Its filled with low-income neighborhoods and alot of gang activity. Varrio Chula Vista and Otay are the two big Chula Vista gangs and they are arch-rivals. Otay comes from the neighborhood "Otay" which is the most ghetto neighborhood in in Chula Vista. EASTERN chula (eastlake, otay ranch, and bonita) is a SUPER nice place and has a VERY VERY different vibe from west chula vista. It has expensive-ass houses, sexy-ass neighborhoods, and a bunch of white people. Here, there are gangs but very few, and surely not enough to be a threat, or even notice. Although it has its good parts and bad parts, Chula Vista is an all around F*#king awesome city! the high schoolers in this city are well known for knowing how to party!! the mexican food is hella bomb! and the bitches r fine as hell! theres even a soak city here!! I'd have to say the only downs is that we have a good police force, there are annoying ass cholos and chula vista is home to the sociales!!!!!
