Although I wasn't able to make it in person, I "bid" on something that for personal reasons I really wanted, and through the good graces of johntp (John Penca), 'won' it. He posted a photo of a Chouinard alpine hammer in the auction prize thread, and I expressed an interest. One day a few weeks ago it appeared in my post box, although I had to give Canada customs some money to release it. A lovely, thoughtful thing to do!

I'd already sent a modest donation to Dave Evans, and boosted it when the hammer arrived - especially as I couldn't make the trip, and so 'saved' some money. Apparently there's now a shingle on the roof with my name on it.

Here's the hammer, with its new friends. Not that I'm becoming a collector or anything, but they can be handy to have.

For those who remember, John was the person who sent a copy of the Sheridan Anderson Summit calendar, to give to Tami for her birthday. A generous fellow, and I hope to meet him in person some time. Thanks!

Tami and her (John's) calendar.

hey there say, mighty hiker, thanks for the really wonderful share, about the hammer surprise....

i had a very large booste in the oil paints department, thanks to johntp's rise to the challenge, as to my help, in mid-work...
sometimes folks are shy about helping, but on some occasions, grateful
hearts need to share...

"I think Lynne learned the lesson about volunteering..."...

That one was EASY to see coming...

LOL!!!...

Can we say she was a wee bit stressed out? I would have taken a photo but would likely be dead now.

Seriously, Lynne put out a tremendous effort. Kuddos Lynne!

john tp, All the preparing, cutting, chopping, organizing is a blast. But, it's a bit like Thanksgiving dinner. The last hour of getting it hot and on the table is a bit stressful. The upside is the great part of getting to know people who volunteer to work together. What a great group!!!

I know the gucamole was great....hope the rest of the food was as well.

BIG KUDOS, to Marie Gingery who again brought the perfect strawberries as well as other divine treats.

Edit: and I must say the stress fled when the dancing and tambourine began.

Hey there say.....

Great event!!! It was a blast, just like the other Fests!

Side note: Did anyone end up with an extra table???? I'm missing a white fold up table, plastic, maybe 2.5feet x 5feet. Folds up into like a big suitcase. Was used in the Silent Auction, then was gone this morning. hmmmm.....
