While doing a two loop 12-miler around Coronado today (can report no new mysterious deaths), I saw a skater. It looks kinda fun, but not nearly as fun looking as kite surfing.

BTW - Micah True autopsy blames cardiomyopathy for his death. Go figure.
Seemingly very healthy guy, takes a tumble, stops to wash off, never gets going again.

Did a desert 14 miler dedicated to the memory of Micah True, today. Though he, would have been faster.
Started just before dawn. Nary a Tarahumara in sight, but about a million mtn bikers in the last hour of every persuasion. I'll post a photo/map link...
My longest run in current locale.
12th half marathon of '12.
611 miles (bike & foot) year to date.

Tabata Pull-up

Tabata Push-up

Tabata Sit-up

The Tabata interval is 20 seconds of work followed by 10 seconds of rest for 8 intervals.

Tabata score is the least number of reps performed in any of the eight intervals. Unit for the row is "calories".

last Tuesday swam 2,000 yards of free non-stop.

last Thursday swam !,000 yards of butterfly non-stop.

Something I learned about weight training this last year is that it will reveal weak areas that I might not otherwise have been aware of.

And I think bicycling works my quads better than running, weight training or swimming.

I plan to climb in Yosemite on Friday. I'm ready! Good to go! Put me in coach! Yee Ha !!!!!

Workout of the Day
“Baseline”
500m Row
40 Air Squats
30 Sit Ups
20 Push Ups
10 Pull Ups
and
“CrossFit Believe Competition Series”
8 Minute Running Clock:
3 Minutes - Establish 1 Rep Max - Clean & Jerk5 Minutes - As Many Reps As Possible - Ground-To-Overhead - (135#/95#)

I ended up getting a PR for Baseline which is always exciting and motivating. Last month April 30, 2011 my time for this workout was 4:55. Today I completed it in 4:15. My real goal is to get my time down under 3:45.

Nix the skating, wife fell and fractured radius. On the bright side, cast technology has come a long way.

For a change-up, I can walk out the front door and run constantly uphill (reasonably steep) for one mile. Don't like the pounding coming down, but
3 loops give a pretty strenuous 6 miles.

My rear dérailleur fell of at the end of a thirteen mile mb ride, right by the garage. Would have been a drag at best, earlier....

Goat, isn't blood in the water like that, in the shark infested ocean, to be avoided?

Recently got a single speed mountain bike. So fun, just good clean pedaling. And no parts can fall off!

Tonight, three rounds of 12 clean and jerks (@70% of max) w/ 400m runs in between.

Sebastion Coe ran 800m in 1:41.73 in 1981. Time stood till 1997 Wilson Kipketer 1:41.11 --> David Rudisha 1:41:01 2010. Basically all these guys are one-speeds (hauling ass).

Swam 1,000 yards of butterfly non-stop today. slow, very slow, but steady. Didn't touch bottom once.

Thinking about resuming my golf game. I haven't played a round for at least twelve years. Ready for another try at a different but familiar skill set.

I got that big book by Jack Nicklaus yesterday, the old one with all the colored drawings, in case I forgot how. It helped me a lot in the past.

56 mile bike ride outside of Boulder--hot one today but at least not humid.
(My favorite golf book is "Ben Hogan's Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf." I pretty much suck at golf, but it's not Hogan's fault.)

Swam 1,000 yards of butterfly non-stop today

I'm impressed. I think I did one length of the pool doing my butterfly imitation.

Interesting story, kinda fits here. I know a Seal (no longer on active duty) whose body is so wracked that the only exercise he can do is swimming. He often swims for eight hours straight. He's told me a bit of his story, never complains except about the shoddy medical treatment he received.

I am pretty happy. One of my friends and I at times do a speed hike up Pyramid peak (from hwy 50) after doing couple of routes in Lovers Leap. My best times were 1 hour 45 and 1 hour 37mins. This time did 1 hour 21. I wonder if some day it would be possible to do in an hour...

Yesterday dayhiked Temple Crag for my 3rd route on the peak- venusian blind (did sun ribbon and dark star previously).

^I can't tell how old you are, but I'd say yes you could bring it down to less than one hour. I'm not sure what the curve looks like exactly, however, I'm finding you do start slowing down.

Big Aerobic Day yesterday, and a special father/son experience...we left the car at 6:30am, stood on top of East Buttress of Middle at 8:30am, did it in 3 pitches, simul-climbed to the base of the bolt ladder, slowed down to both free it, then simul-climbed to the top. Then made our way down the gulley, took a hard right and went up the Northeast Buttress of Higher, topping out at 3:30pm. We were pretty tired at the end of that, 24 pitches of super quality, and some gully mileage...Awesome Day!

Braden and Peter top of Higher...
