And thanks also to Scuffy b, AmyJo, Jim Donini, NutA, Tami Knight, Guido McKeown, Mark and Werner.

It is kind of a miracle of sorts, that now 51 years ago I stumbled on this community, a mere 14 years old. I have the feeling that if I hadn’t, I might not have made it through my youth, to be frank. I so needed to believe in something huge and sacred and that it offers such privilege in the natural world makes climbing worth a lifetime of one’s devotion.

From out of nowhere...

a raucous bump for a man of "intelligence and wit:"
a "thinker, a grate [sic] gifted writer, historian, climber, visionary, graphic designer;"
and "such a cool guy."

I gotta say that "this big, strong, silent guy flowing across the rock"
creates "twisted art work."

We can "dig the WIDE brimmed hats," certainly. Right, Fritz?
He is "really generous with his time"
and "he's still growing, and branching off in new directions..."

And that was from just the first page of this appreciation thread!

You are a mensch, Peter, a man of dignity and honor.
Like a LeConte Boulder in a talus waste of wise guys, we look up to you. :0)

I rescind the bird. "I was only funnin', Wyatt."

Anyone looking at these routes with a huge rack of cams ...

actually one of the modern mistakes when launching off into the wyde is taking too much gear, everything is much more manageable when you take just what you need.

less is more

just an observation

Only four pieces are needed for this pitch anyways.

if I comprehend correct, Peter did not have piece N3 on traverse which made his FFA dance with the death.
But he was able to place piece N4 [Werner's green arrows on above photo]

How much do those green arrows cost anyway? Mr. Ament is looking to buy or sell some.

Gotta watch it here (what does zBrown know anyway), but Herr Haan is a good man in zB's opinion.

Long may he wave.

Peter is a solid, thoughtful guy, adds a whole lot of intellectual input into a wildly variable ST. Thanks for all, Peter.

I'm doing morning latte and wandering through the past here on ST. While I can I want to say another thank you to Peter for inspiration literally from day 1 about 49 years ago.

It's always been great to read your stories from the past. I hope you continue to write and get it out to us people somehow.

Another bump for this thread, but don't ignore Grossman's Frost book thread.
