bvb - Uh, WTF, dude?! Why would you list me as a spammer and put me in with the likes of LEB? Rather confused by that. You off the wagon, bro?

death to spammers
suggestion to supertopo-webmaster
supertopo just has to implement some coding for postings (replies) like
all the new, modern blogsites have.
when posting a given code must be entered manually, that avoids spam and no work for a webmaster !
so hope chris or someone else there considers this ...

yeah, they're real Capt. Not sure what his deal is. As far as I know, I've never even interacted with him on here. He's rarely on here. And I'm pretty sure the three of us have contributed far more to this site than he has. Oh well. Whatev. I'm rarely here anymore anyhow.
LEB? Yeah, ya got my vote. Boot that sh#t off of here!

kev and Mucci are climbers, morons!!!!! Pretty ardent ones too, moreso than I.
And LEB, while annoying to some, is not a 'spammer'.
Nefarious, not a spammer. Climber/photographer.
Fattrad, not a spammer.
F*#k, what's up with you people???? Do you just want to ban people you don't agree with???
Stalinesque?

This guy has has a hundred avatars promoting his singular psychosis over multiple boards - he has no place in this forum, IMO.
If allowed, he will do nothing but push a singular objective. That in my mind defines spam.
Edit: Thanks, Anders, the link was dropped, the guy's name is Dan H0witt
Funny, when I try to write H0witt without the zero it comes out as A#@&%e.
Guess they already know! LOL!

Thanks for your help in identifying the frequent spammers to the forum.
With your help, we've implemented an anti-spam filter which appears to have been effective (at least for the last week) at blocking spam posts such as the many posts related to DVD conversion software. In the past few weeks, dozens of attempted posts have been blocked, and the frequency of posts has dropped off in the past few days to nil.
FYI, for those interested, we have been able to determine several interesting facts about the frequent spam posts regarding DVD software:
They appear to be posts from real people, not bots
They have had a consistent focus on promoting a software company related to video conversion software
They appear to be hired to optimize their client's search engine ranking
They appear to be from Asia, China likely, however the IP addresses may have been spoofed.
They seem to have been effective, as their client has a high search ranking on many keywords
Since the posts appear to have been by real people, not bots, we decided against implementing CAPTCHA or similar techniques suggested in posts on this thread. We felt doing so would prevent unnecessary work for forum posters, and had little effect slowing down spammers.
Since our anti-spam filter is designed to be upgraded as we learn of new spam posts, please keep us posted if you see additional spam posts.
Thanks again for your help in pointing out offending posts. Doing so provided us the info to implement our initial anti-spam filtering rules. Your help in continuing to do so going forward will help us keep the forum free of similar types of spam posts.
Regards,
rj
