"How come you libs don't get all excercised about the Muslim countries that execute people if they aren't Muslim or if they claim to be Christian? Oh, duh! I know why. It is because libs have bought into the hate America and criticize America first line of bullsh#t. Your anti-Americanism is so feckin' transparent it is sickening. Yah, yah, yah, you're criticism makes you so patriotic. I have heard that B.S. before, save it this time. Constructive criticism is one thing but the pure, unadulterated hate directed at the U.S. 24/7 by the whining libs is getting old. Just shut up. "

Um..WE DO YOU JACKASS!! What do you think my contributions to Amnesty International and the Red Cross are doing right now?! Howweird you have absolutely NO IDEA what you are talking about! You can't have it both ways..criticizing liberal support for humanitarian intervention but then trying to say that we only care if its Christians doing it nor some such nonesense. The reality is you are just talking out of your ass.

One of my biggest criticisms of Bush during the Afghanistan campaign or the lead-up to Iraq was his sudden interest in the plight of women around the world. Bush was HAPPY to write the Taliban checks for millions of dollars when it was just a tool for getting a pipeline built, then all of a suddent his deep and passionate concern for the humanitarian conditions of Afghanis came to the forefront. Lo...had liberals not been so oppressive of his concern for these oppressed people before 9/11!

" When one religion is favored, all others are disfavored. That is why the Constitution says that the government can't do that sort of thing."

Where does it say that? "

It doesn't say that, nor did I say the Const. says that. I said that is why the 1st Amend. says what it does.

How much plainer does the First Amendment have to be? It says that there shall be no respect of the establishment of religion. And prominently displaying a religious text in state building does just that!

"It is because libs have bought into the hate America and criticize America first line of bullsh#t. Your anti-Americanism is so feckin' transparent it is sickening. I love my country deeply, ass-hole. I just oppose creeps like YOU Jody and our current leaders who are ruining this country and disregard the noble principles it stands for. But then again, sniveling little fascists like you go to great pains to stifle dissent and call anyone who disagrees traitors. You seem to enjoy pissing on the 1st Amendment.

So go fukk yourself, dickwad.

It's so easy to see the self delusion, hypocrisy, and close mindedness of so many blind fools on both sides.

If you say Republicans are corrupt without adding Democrats are corrupt, you just may be an fool.

If you say left wingers are dirty, long haired, druggie, lazy, welfare loving, commies who hate the US, without adding right wingers are bigoted, fascist, greedy, selfish, abortion clinic bombing, terrorists who commit evil because they think their cause is good you just may be an idiot.

As soon as someone opens their mouth or writes words that show a complete lack of understanding of the other side of the issues or paints everyone who doesn't agree with them as far left/right extremists and goes on to tell you that they magically know what someone on the other side is thinking it shows these people have their head up their asses and there really is no point trying to reason with them because they are lame and unreasonable.

I think it totally lame that the moderates who worked out the compromise to avoid the nuclear option (filibuster fight) were criticised or that Sandra O'connor was called a traitor for being moderate and voting for what she thought was just. As soon as someone starts in on criticism like that I know the person spewing is an fool and there is no point listening to them except for entertainment.

These people are doing a great job of dividing the country.

Interesting, I thought this was a climbing forum, that is, a forum on climbing. There are numerous sites where people argue politics. Why do it on this site? However, since I am here, I was born and reared in California though I have been a journalist abroad for 18 of the past 23 years, working in several countries, and trying to climb when I can. I am what most level-headed people who are reasonable would say is a liberal but right-wits call a leftie, which I am really not. And just to add,, I am more of an American liberal than an European one - there is a difference. I am open-minded and tolerant, which apparently some people on this forum are not, especially those with right leanings. I have been climbing since 1968 and use to hang out in the Valley in the mid-1970s. For the most part, most climbers I met were of the more liberal persuasion, but by some of the postings on this board, it appears that rednecks, 'gung hoers' (ex-military?) and some Bushites (shite is the Irish for shit) have taken up the sport. Fair play, that's cool, but I'd be curious to see what style of climbing they do, such as trad or sport, flash or red point, ice or rock, etc. Is there any correlation between styles and politics? Try visiting ireland.com and the news poll forum to see the neo-cons and neo-liberals arguing with one another, as well as calling each other names like some are doing on this forum. My advice? Just climb and shut up. If you want political discourse, go to a website that specialises in that. Or join a political party, or become an evangelicalist or Christian fundamentalist and wait for Rapture. You want a real cathedral, climb Cathedrall peak and see what nature has given us and what the neo-cons want to wipe out. Adios amigos

Howweirddean or whatever (think you are clever with that name don't you) firstly I was merely mentioning the ireland.com news poll forum - which discusses a lot of thing besides politics although it seems politics always gets dragged in - as a place to argue. Secondly, this is my first time on the forum, having just joined, and I must say, it appears you live on it. No sooner had I posted my submission and you are firing off a missive to me. My advice is to get a life and a clue. I hope we never meeet on the cliffs because you sound like a dangerous and reckless climber. Adieu.

Howweirddean, I suppose you have that one correct, I did take a dig at those you mention. Funny, I only clicked on to this particular debate because I was curious to see what liberalism had to do with climbing, and now I have got myself involved. I think I call it a day and just bother with real climbing posts on this site. It's 21:16 on a Friday here in Dublin and I have better things to do than argue (you can't call it discuss as they don't know how to have a proper discourse of reason, all they can do is SHOUT in anger and ignorance at those they disagree with) with neo-con right-wit twits.

BTW My family has been in America since 1640 and the second signatory of the Declaration of Independence is an ancestor. While I have lived abroad for years I love my country and I am proud of it (or most of it). So you right-wit twits who believe that criticism of Bush, his administration and policies, and neo-con cronies means that I am unpatriotic should cop on. America was built on dissent and on diversity as well as tolerance. But then, I suppose y'all flunked civics.

DPatrick, you have to understand that Jody/Howie has about 6 brain cells. Five of those cells are used to obtain and stuff donuts into that fat cop mouth of his. The remaining cell is used for other forms of thought. That is why he seems so idiotic most of the time.

Anytime a patriot says something wise, all you foul mouths start yapping like the packs of rats you are. You claim to love your country, but you only love the image you have of it in your mind.

It's a waste trying to say anything, since you call anyone who disagrees with your radical left ideas a moron, a fag, or (gasp) a Christian.

So jump in, spray and burn. No reason to let you guys think you've chased me away, and I no longer care what you call me. Keep it up. It's turning the country away from you more all the time.

As far as the opinions on this thread, a true partiot will never try and divide and conquer those with different views than his own. Thatīs a fair-weather, rigid, control freak, brittle and hollow as old log, and the inverse of a patriot, who never divides our mutual turf into ours and yours, a primitive isolation strategy used by drunks, bullies and wankers since time began.

Thereīs wisdom in the saying, It takes all kinds.

HowDumbBush,

Kerry a coward? As a fellow Vietnam Vet I take that quite personally and as far as I'm concerned anyone saying it is a coward. He did his country great service both in Vietnam and on his return. You want cowards?

Dick Cheney: 5 deferments (1 for marriage) - "I had other priorities"

John Ashcroft: 7 student and teaching deferments

Paul Wolfowitz - student deferment

Phil Gramm - teaching and marriage deferment

George Will - student deferment

Clarence Thomas - 4F

Newt Gingrich - student deferment (but feels like he "missed something" by not going)

Rush Limbaugh - 4F for a bad knee (a pilonidal cyst which can cause discomfort - his father had the same thing but it didn't stop him from going to WWII)

Dan Quayle - Served in Indiana National Guard

Jack Kemp - medical deferment (bad knee but it didn't keep him out of the NFL)

Bill Bennett - student deferment (onward christian gamblers)

Pat Buchanan - medical deferment (for bad knee)

Ken Starr - medical deferment (for psoriasis)

Bill O'Reilly - student deferment

Tom Delay - deferment (because as he explained, there was no room for him due to so many minority youths who volunteered to escape the ghetto)

George W. Bush - Served in Texas Air National Guard (AWOL for 1 year)

Cowards to a man... it's real brave company you keep. It would be laughable if they weren't in a position to put real men and women into harms way for the delusional fantasy that passes for the neocon "vision" of the world. Again, draft dodgers then, liars and criminals now...

If Social Security is 'creeping socialism' it's been creeping since 1935 or so. Personally, I like having SS and a couple million bucks to invest, too. That's the best way: Playing poor with a lot of money behind you at the same time, always bitchin' about having to spend a buck. When is FatRad gonna get it straight? This is a country for rich old white men who have big property behind them. In my book, an accountant is just a parasite to use. I can hardly wait to get a terminal disease so I can run up a big bill on Medicare and go out in style at the young taxpayer's expense.

Who did he stab in the back exactly? He came back and testified that horrible things were going on and that the higher ups in the gov't needed to do something about it. Rape, murder, torture..those things HAPPENED over there. There is nothing heroic about covering up atrocities. I understand that a lot of Vets were upset because they felt like there was a lot of anymosity against them personally when they got back home, and for the most part there was, and it was very sad. I don't see how Kerry is personally responsible for that.

And the Swift Boat Vets are the same group of people who attacked Mcain and keep cropping up again and again to commit repulican hackery. There were videos of some of the guys in the ad standing next to Kerry and talking about what a great guy he was in front of large crowds not a few years earlier.

Oh really? Were you there? Do tell.

And shouldn't a lot of people have been? By all means Howweird if you are lobbying for war crimes tribunals for Vietnam Vets speak right up.

And it kills me every time that you guys care more about whether or not there is incriminating enough evidence against your precious Dubya or Rove than if it actually happened or not. You make it painfully obvious that you care more about what one can get away with than what is right or wrong.
