Thank you for this story! For an update the oldies did an anniversary climb in September and loved it. Though they didn't make it all the way up the pitch, there is much to be said that they could still attempt the climb. My dad trained all summer to get back into climbing shape. Thank you for these wonderful photos.

I did Coonyard BITD and loved it. I think it's one of the under-appreciated classics. Still want to go back and finish to the Oasis. I suppose the runout intimidates a lot of "modern" climbers. I'm sure it will me when I get back up there.
Kat: good on your Dad!

BITD (77?) did Coonyard with Kimbrough, he led the 3rd if not mistaken.
Have yet to go to the Oasis - always wanted to. Some are wigged out
about the rock fall potential; seems like it was always kinda weird that
way on the left (Grack) side of the apron and pretty stable over by
MM slab etc? Think autumn is best (for me). :-)
Great thread. Thanks to the FA team for a really cool climb!

I haven't heard of any rockfall issues in the area from Coonyard to the Oasis. Anyone got better info?

Watusi setting off on the first pitch of Coonyard, with Off White snapping the camera and me belaying. It was our first time up the route. July, 1976.
