I particularly look forward to Ms. Palin's informed and well-reasoned views as to what policy and economic decisions the government should make as a result of recent events to do with Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, Lehmann Brothers, etc etc. No doubt Wall Street will be all ears.

Darn issues. They keep intruding into an election that the Republicans would prefer have focus on the supposed values of the candidates, rather than their experience and skills, their thoughts on the direction of the country, and views on key policy issues.

Ms. Palin's "values" may help her and McCain get elected, but they won't do much for good governance.

Lois, there was nothing profane or abusive in what I wrote to you in the above post.

Typical of you to miss the point yet AGAIN though.

YOU refuse to even look at the evidence, and yet you demand fair and decent treatment for your idiotic views.

So, since logic and reason do not work on you, kindly go screw yourself.

I hope you lose everything in the depression you are helping to create.

IDIOT.

The OP complained about Palin having 5 kids. Hmmmm, the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi (from my state out here on the Left Coast, neighboring District) has 5 kids. This is a reason to disqualify a woman from office?

There are plenty of reasons to vote for someone else without resorting to outdated sexist statements - like political philosophy, record in the offices they have held, the issues on how they would run their elected office in other words. There's way too much distorted nonsense and promotion of false rumors as "fact" - on ALL sides (not just Reps and Dems - add the Naderites and Ron Pauls in there as well)

Problem with this whole campaign on the part of all the parties (7 official parties here in Calif!) is that no one is talking the real issues.

What I really want to know is can Sarah Palin actually gut a moose.
Has anyone witnessed her gutting a moose? And when they say "gut" do they mean just cutting the stomach open or field dressing it or fully dressing it out? My understanding is there is a huge difference.

Dirt, you know better than to waist your words on LEB. She's stuck in the 70's Reblican paradigm. She will continue to beat that old drum 'til her fingers turn to dust. She bought the "tax and spend liberals" thing hook, line, and sinker. Reality doesn't matter. Facts don't matter. Palin can gut a moose.

pelosi entered public life when her youngest child was a senior in HS, palin's youngest is a 4 month old special needs child. there is no comparison there, at least not for anyone with their eyes open.

this sort of talking point is typical of the right these days, they are intellectually bankrupt and they expect enough of you to be TOO STUPID (lowest) to notice.

it's exactly the same as what they have tried with the "experience matters" line.
obama has convinced enough of the electorate that he has the judgement to govern and lead the country in spite of his limited experience, so the right has simply stated that now experience is irrelevant. super.

Dirt, I'm pretty sure this is not the first time LEB has written you off. So don't be too concerned.

What's funny about the name calling stuff is that LEB is the only one on here that has ever called me names.

The dems keep citing Senator Obama's "eight years as an Illinois State senator" as his experience base. That and half a term as a senator at the federal level. There are 67 senators and 118 legislators in the Illinois legislature. Not much of a distinction. That and two years in the senate and you are ready to run the country?

I'm passing this along. However, the alarming thing to me is that nothing anyone says about their case or someone else's position seems to change anyone's opinion (either here on ST or in the nation at large). No one listens to anyone except those they already agree with. Same as it ever was? Or a new tunnel-vision (both sides)?

"I'm a little confused. Let me see if I have this straight.....

·If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you're "exotic,

different."

·Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers, a quintessential American story.

·If your name is Barack you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.

·Name your kids Willow, Trig and Track, you're a maverick.

·Graduate from Harvard law School and you are unstable.

·Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you're well grounded.

·If you spend 3 years as a community organizer, become the first black

President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that

registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law

professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with

over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human

Services committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a

state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the

Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs

committees, you don't have any real leadership experience.

·If your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city council

and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as

the governor of a state with only 650,000 people, then you're qualified to

become the country's second highest ranking executive.

·If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising 2

beautiful daughters, all within protestant churches, you're not a real

Christian.

·If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your

disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you're a Christian.

·If you teach responsible, age appropriate sex education, including the

proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of society.

·If , while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no other

option in sex education in your state's school system while your unwed teen

daughter ends up pregnant , you're very responsible.

·If your wife is a Harvard graduate lawyer who gave up a position in a

prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city community,

then gave that up to raise a family, your family's values don't represent

America's.

·If you're husband is nicknamed "First Dude", with at least one DWI

conviction and no college education, who didn't register to vote until age

25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the secession

of Alaska from the USA, your family is extremely admirable.

OK, much clearer now."

Dolomite, I agree on many points.

However, last I checked, she's not running for president.

Almost reminds me of when I was a kid and we would compare Batman with Superman. Not even the same ballpark! Sure, there's kryptonite, but all Batman's got is that damn belt (and the cave of sodomy). How about Heart from Captain planet and Aquaman? There's something I can sink my teeth into.

good post dolomite, but you forgot that the "first dude" is also a 4 time national snow machine racer. as McCain said "if he can race 2,000 miles in 40 below weather than he can handle anything Washington throws at him".

take care

Palin having 5 kids isn't a reason to not vote for her. It is a reason to ask her "are you sure you are up to this?" She has answered that yes, in spite of having a pregnant teen and special needs infant that she is. I can personally tell you that having ONE infant who ISN'T special needs I couldn't imagine being VP, but whatever, she says she's up to it so she deserves the benefit of the doubt.

The reasons not to vote for her are the myriad of OTHER stuff on which she has been obviously naive, uninformed or outright dishonest.

Thanks Dolomite. A good distinction indeed.

And GDavis, while she isn't running for president, if you look at the actuarial tables for someone like McCain, she might as well be.

Another point on the kid issue, an op-ed piece in the NY Times made an interesting comparison between Palin's family and Obama's. Imagine the reaction if Obama had a 17 old daughter who got knocked up by some fouled mouthed teenager and all of them got up on stage at the convention. You probably would have gotten a very different reaction about the whole teen pregnancy issue, the sex life of young African-Americans, etc.

SHE IS RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT. How hard is this to understand? The Vice-Prez is one stroke, one bullet, one car bomb, one pulmonary embolism away from being President. Plain becoming Pres is not some fantasy hypothetical.

Yeah, LEB, you called me a son of a bitch and some other such crap, 'bastard' maybe. I doubt you will remember, selective memory seems to be one of your trademarks.

Another funny thing about that is Dirt emailed me and more or less defended you. He suggested you were not that bad and you mean no harm, or maybe he said 'harmless', I don't remember.

And for sure this is not the first time I've seen you write someone off. Eventually you return to the table with them.

So has anyone ever seen Ms Palin gut a moose? Bet she doesn't even know who was the first to summit Denali.
