I am not an Athenian or a Greek, but a citizen of the world.
Socrates
Happiness depends upon ourselves.
Aristotle
Men acquire a particular quality by constantly acting a particular way... you become just by performing just actions, temperate by performing temperate actions, brave by performing brave actions.
Aristotle
We are what we repeatedly do.

Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there.

And one of the greatest tragedies is people always just quoting sh'it here and never applying their true meanings in real life.
W. Braun
I scanned thru all of the other entries to see if he would respond to this thread. I'd say not just here, but everywhere you look.
You will NEVER be measured by what you "think".
Only by what you DO.

i have not tired of the wilderness; rather i enjoy its beauty and the vagrant life i lead, more keenly all the time. i prefer... the star sprinkled sky to a roof, the obscure and difficult trail, leading into the unknown, to any paved highway, and the deep peace of the wild to the discontent bred by cities... there are so few with whom i can share the things that mean so much to me that i have learned to contain myself. it is enough that i am surrounded by beauty and carry it with me in things that are a constant delight... like the silver bracelet on my wrist, whose three turqoises gleam in the firelight.

hey there...
"Those that are weak, broken or fragil can speak in POWERFUL ways, if folks would just listen while they can. The smallest light can shine on the greatest truth... even if its flame doesn't shine long or hard, it's work is JUST as important.
If we fail to speak and acknowledge weakness, we dishonor God. His power is made perfect in our weakness. How many times have we seen this on our ranch? Look at us! We're STILL shining bright...
no matter if my twin's brain has a few flickers... and no matter if your sister's brain doesn't shine full, there's still an awesome power of life shining out of them... shining light onto entirely DIFFERENT spots than our light may fall on."
JADE SMITH, to the ranch gang, concerning candles and the word retarded...
from the short story, THE CANDLES RETARDED FLAME, in the book, "INTRODUCING..."

"A human being is part of a whole, called by us the 'Universe' a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest -- a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free outselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."
