My sister, Annabelle Thom, phoned me in tears 4 days ago from Shanghai where she had come to hear of Bobby's accident. She lives in Kenya and is a good friend of Bobby and Mariella. She phoned me to ask if I would call all our friends and family in England to pray for him too. So from all of us as a family and a few larger prayer groups here too, we send our thoughts and deepest wishes for his safe return from that place where he is now. Annabelle sends huge love to him and to you all.
Some years ago she, Annabelle, fell into a coma from cerebral malaria and we waited for ten achingly long days while she slept - half in this world, half in another. We were told by her doctor that almost certainly she wouldn't make it - but a million prayers later she came back on the tenth day. Miracles ARE possible
I pray for light tomorrow for you all.

When we heard about Bobby's injury, Monte said, "Bobby's a tough kid." He IS a tough kid and we are thinking about him and the rest of the family and send you strength and energy to get through this.

I just found out about this tragic event and find it difficult to express how sad this makes me. Growing up with Faith and Bobby, my mind is full of positive memories. Although I wish I could do more, I’m sending all the positive energy I can to Bobby. Since Bobby is one person whose indomitable spirit could get him through this, I’m hoping for the best. Also, I’m sure this is an incredibly challenging event for Faith, Anne, and Bob and my thoughts are with them as well.

Faith, Ann, Bob and friends; My thoughts and prayers go out to you all. Although it has been many years, I know that Bobby still is one of the strongest out there, both physically and in spirit, and I pray that these qualities help to pull him through.

JUST GOT THIS UPDATE FROM FAITH:
Dear All,
I will now try to take over the updates from
Hans-Peter through this yahoo account. I know that
there are many addresses not included, but i don't
have the time to add them now, so please continue to
forward these messages on. Many thanks.
Bobby had a tracheotomy today, which reduces the
irritation in his throat and makes it easier to
suction. It's also better not to have tubes invading
his mouth and throat. The bruising on his face is
receding and he looks much better. He was off the
ventilator and breathing on his own today, but his
lungs got a bit tired and they put him back on for
tonight. He may be able to breathe on his own again
tomorrow, however. He does have a secondary lung
infection, but the doctors are addressing this.
Again, your deep affection, support and powerful
hope
have brought us all to tears and I know Bobby is
touched beyond words. Thank you so much for all your
messages, which we constantly pass on to Bobby.
My brother's strength is palpable, but i also see
that he is resting, which is so important for the healing process.
Sending love and endless thanks from all of us,
particularly Bobby,
Faith

Wishing the best for the Models.
Perhaps we should all strive to create a better world for each other in order to reduce the injustice that inevitably is produced by a lesser one.

To Bobby:
Since we first met in Laramie you have been endeared to us. No doubt, we were smitten by your now-legendary sense of humor and energy. Through your work and through our adventures we have come to recognize that behind your wild eyes and sometimes-crude tongue there is a thoughtful man driven by passion, wisdom and honesty. Dig deep now brother, knowing that so many are pulling for you and sending positive thoughts your way. We patiently wait for the day when we will laugh together again.
Our thoughts are constantly with you,
Tom, Betty and Fritz Kalakay

Good to hear that there's been some progress. When we learned of this accident, the first thing that raced through my mind is that the old Lander Crew has had enough for a while... let the universe give it a rest.
Keep up the healing, Bobby! Know that friends the world over are pulling for you.
